I'm so excited I could explode!
Laura Benanti at Ravinia
I guess Momma LuPone put in a good word for her. When you're good to Patti, Patti's good to you. :)

I'm seeing it, too. I'm really excited, she has a gorgeous voice and is a truly great performer.
Bettyboy72, I doubt that. Benanti is a star in her own right. I think it's because she's shooting "Playboy Club" and is in Chicago for it.
AwesomeDanny, I'm glad we're both going and excited! I'm dragging my brother along. She's my idol and I haven't shut up about going since I got tickets.
Ahh, I want to go to this! I'll need to find someone to come with me.
luvtheEmcee, it seems to be sold out except for reserve seats. I know when I ordered mine it was almost sold out. I hope you can find tickets. :)
I'm confused -- are there something other than reserved seats? I see a few left on the seating chart now. Not many, so I'm sure they will go quickly. I am new to Chicago and don't really feel like trekking all the way out there alone, so hopefully I can find a buddy.

But there are only reserved seats--she's performing in the indoor theatre while someone else is performing in the pavilion. However, tickets are conveniently only $10. I got my tickets the day they went on sale, and I'm in the last row of the main floor, but they still have 40 seats available in the balcony.
That's what I thought.
I'll be there too! I'm really looking forward to this.
Has anyone been there before? The balcony isn't super high, right? I can't imagine it is with only 450 seats.
My goodness, she was incredible. Did anyone happen to jot down a song list?

Let's see what I can remember...
Let Me Entertain You/Chicago
So Many People/No One Has Ever Loved Me/Loving You
On the Steps of the Palace
Unusual Way
[that song with the ukulele]
[her song from Swing]
Mr. Tanner
[that hilarious medley that got a standing ovation]
When it Rains, It Pours
The Sound of Music
Something Good
I might have missed something, and I'm sure that it isn't in the right order, but that's basically it. She was so great! I hope she does some more concerts here in Chicago with her show filming here. Oh, and Mary Mitchell was AMAZING. I wish that they had signed afterward, but the ushers seemed eager to get everybody out as quickly as possible.
What a great set list. Wish I were there. Did she do any banter between songs? She's quite hysterical.
SO much banter, she told a lot of really adorable stories about being a dorky child/teenager. She's hilarious, and endeared herself to the audience immediately.
It was such a great surprise to see Mary-Mitchell out here with her. MMC is always brilliant.

Oh! I forgot when she sang If I Were a Bell/I Could Have Danced All Night! she sang that, too. In the Q&A in the program, she said that Patti LuPone said she would make a good stand-up comedian, and that concert just shows that she would. At least to us theatre fans. I already loved her as a singer/performer, but this concert made me love her as a person.
When I was coming in, I overhead house staff talking about some sort of official meet and greet, which I assume was for members/donors.
There was also that insane medley of "songs Laura would never get to sing," including things like: Single Ladies (with the dance), Livin' On a Prayer, Fat Bottomed Girls, Baby Got Back, I Got You Babe and Respect. lol.

Yeah, I included that as "[that hilarious medley that got a standing ovation]"
It was sublime!
