"Are you telling me that you have NEVER criticized a show?"
Fiercey: Saying "Glory Days sucks" is not "criticizing the show"....it is just plain bashing it. You are perfectely welcome to view your opinions of the show, but that doesn't mean you have to go around and say "it sucks."
This thread was started to ask if anyone thought "Glory Days was LaChiusa changing the name to See What I Wanna See again?" It did not ask for a review of the show.....and what you gave wasn't even a criticism, it was just plain bashing for no reason.

"So I was the only one who thought it might have been the inevitable Bruce Springsteen jukebox musical?"
No. I thought the same thing. I was kind of excited, actually.

NYC, I gave you my reason...
the show is overrated and the score is weak.
I wish the young men all the best. But I just think there are more worthy shows that deserve a shot over GLORY DAYS to make it on the Broadway stage.

"The Best Little Crackhouse In New York"
I kid you not. it's probably THE funniest musical I have ever seen and the score is fabulous.
it was produced downtown at a local arts center in 2006.
even musicals like "Bare" and "True Fans", that have potential, should be given a shot over GLORY DAYS.
I usually wouldn't even consider something like "Bare" to be given a Bway shot but if GLORY DAYS is getting a shot, "Bare" should get one too. There have been some rewrites recently and I like it a lot more now.
"True Fans" has a lovely score and book... better, in my opinion, than GLORY DAYS. it's a shame they couldn't get the author of the book to release the rights for producing the musical. It probably could have enjoyed a healthy run at the Circle.
I continue to push for "True Fans" to be produced, every day, at work. I'm hoping the author will give in.

TRUE FANS will never happen. Ask Mr. Miller and Mr. Tysen. They are geniuses, but unfortunately the show has been shelved.
Bare is derivative and unoriginal.

Well Fiercey....I would agree with you that there are A LOT of shows out there that don't receive their fair shot.
I would argue, however, that (whether you like the show or not) bad mouthing Glory Days is not going to HELP other new shows get produced. Rather, if a show like Glory Days is successful, producers might be more willing to take chances on new musicals like the ones you want to see on Broadway (rather than Shrek 2). So even if you don't like it, I still think that if it is successful, it might help your cause.
