Not to burst everyone's bubble, but she doesn't fly at every performance - there have been numerous occasions when something has gone wrong with the technology and they don't risk it.

Cheyenne Jackson tickled me. AFTER ordering SoMMS a drink but NOT tickling him, and hanging out with Girly in his dressing room (where he DIDN'T tickle her) but BEFORE we got married. To others. And then he tweeted Boobs. He also tweeted he's good friends with some chick on "The Voice" who just happens to be good friends with Tink's ex. And I'm still married. Oh, and this just in: "Pettiness, spite, malice ....Such ugly emotions... So sad." - After Eight, talking about MEEEEEEEE!!! I'm so honored! :-)

The flying effect must be awesome from those far-back boxes.

I'm curious to know how it is all rigged. Is there some piece of equipment that goes from the stage to top balcony that is there throughout the whole show or what.

Ive seen from the orchestra and the balcony.

kind of hard to describe without pointing at it, but if you want me to try, i can.

yes, something is there for the whole show, no, you can't see it unless you look hard.

Was I the only one who wasn't really amazed that she flew at the end? It's not like she's the first person to fly over an audience.

She may not be the first, but she has one the most effective flights.

The first time I saw the show, she did not fly (and it was very scary). However, the show still ends with all the amazing night sky lighting in the house and you can watch the family on stage...giving a different and very moving perspective.

How often does she not fly?

It seems to be a very rare occurence.....there's really no way of saying how often because it hardly ever doesn't succeed.

What other shows have people flying over the audience?

I was just there on Tuesday night and the first thing I thought when I walked up the stairs was "What a BEAUTIFUL theatre!" It's incredible. My mom and I were in the third row of the front mezz and it was incredible, We saw her all the way up to the (SEMI-SPOILER!!!) catwalk where she "lands"..my brother in the back of the mezz only saw her before she went up towards the balcony and his line of vision was cut off. A great way to end the show!...very effective as already said.

Did you already buy your tickets?

I also remember Tarzan flying over the audience.

No they are fine. It doesn't really matter anymore if you can see her whole flight since you already bought the tickets and there is nothing you can do about it.

I thought the ad looks amazing!
Sometimes even though you know they are going to fly you still get goose pimplies... Like when they did it in Witches of Eastwick here at the Signature.

"Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion's starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don't see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often it's not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it's always there - fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge - they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I've got a sneaky feeling you'll find that love actually is all around."

ThankstoPhantom, the time you saw it and she didn't fly, why was it scary? I assume she just walked off or something similar...

She was basiclally yanked onto the stage by the wires (they looked like they were twisted). Crewmen walked onto the stage and tried to throw her in the air. Then more crew people ran on, they asked Brown some kind of question, and they pulled her off stage. Brown was continuously shaking her head no, and spending time slightly hunched over....I don't think she felt safe...nor did it look safe.

I do recall reading somewhere that she doesn't fly just as often as Elphaba doesn't "defy gravity." They have done a good job ever since those inciidents to test it out between preformances and make sure it is working. But, they don't have her do it unlsess if is done safely. Same thing goes for Burt's dance in Step In Time.

But, as in both shows, they have had incidents where they couldn't do eiather one because the machaincs weree not working right.

I must ask...do they simply cut that sequence if it is not working, or does Bert do some sort of alternate choreography on stage?

im sure they have some sort of a/b routine mapped out and the actor is notified before their scene to either go on as usual or to perform the back-up plan. they would have to.

*Shudders*

I just ordered box 10, I hope it's not like 50% partial view. :-l Does anyone know how it is?
