Hey All
If any of you have seen Maureen Moore on for Christine in GG (or any other show for that matter) and have a POSITIVE review you've posted somewhere or message you'd like to give her, I'm thinking of making her a little scrap-book of positive reviews and fan notes as a closing night gift.
I have become very close with Maureen since catching her performance from the first row on June 9th. Check out my review.
If you'd like to design your own "page" for the book (I'll probably print it out @ Kinko' in color) with a background or photo of you and she, please PM me to coordinate. I would assume that maybe making it in PowerPoint would be best so they are all the same size and easy for me to print.
Each time I see her I try to mention one of the positive things people have said or people expressing interest in seeing her performance and it really makes her day. She truly is an extraordinary woman. Go say "hi!" to her @ Broadway Barks this weekend! Shes been working it for years now :) .
Thanks!
Chris
I caught Maureen in Sunset Blvd., while she was filling in for the vacationing Elaine Paige. Yes, of course I was disappointed at not seeing Elaine (especially since her vacation came so early in her run). But, I already knew Maureen from A Little Night Music (on PBS and in the Sondheim at Carnegie Hall concert), so I was still intrigued.
In any situation like that, the audience takes time to warm to someone they didn't come to see. But, they definitely did, as quickly as "With One Look." I have nothing but positive memories of Sunset with Maureen, and don't at all feel that I missed out on anything. She was terrific.
She was one of my favorite Fraulein Schneiders in the Cabaret revival.
EDIT:
If you do post/PM me, I'd love to have your name (First if thats all you're comfortable with) and City/State.
Thanks
chris
The first time I saw Maureen was in the American premiere of "Blood Brothers" at the Downtown Cabaret Theatre in Bridgeport, CT in 1988. She was excellent.
I also saw her as the first replacement Fantine in the Broadway company of Les Miz. Again, she was excellent.
I'm sorry I didn't get to see her as Rose in the recent revival of Gypsy or in Sunset Boulevard.
She has had quite a career.

"I have become very close with Maureen since catching her performance from the first row on June 9th."
You've become 'very close' in the one month since you met her for the first time - as an audience member?
That's . . . interesting.
Thanks DG
that was constructive
I didn't think "bffls" was appropo given the sitch.
DG: I heard that Maureen was actually quite gregarious. A BWWer posted a story about her (sorry, can't remember details) a few weeks ago - he was standing outside the Walter Kerr with a friend (I think) talking about the show & she overheard their conversation, came over & introduced herself as Christine's standby. And apparently was very charming.
Yup!
She did this as well:

I asked her about it afterward and she said, "Yup! I decided I was going to be very bold that day, so I said something!"
I thought she did a great job as little Edie.
Nice performance, Maureen!
I'll definitely send you something.
Thanks logan, that (https://forum.broadwayworld.com/readmessage.cfm?thread=938827&id=3098914&boardname=bway) was what I was referring to.

I've actually only seen her in the NYCO production of A Little Night Music from PBS, but that performance alone has made me such a fan of hers that I can barely describe it. The nuance and skill of her Charlotte really put her on the map for me, and I pretty much think its ridiculous she hasn't has a major Broadway role to herself yet. I've been on a rampage for any Maureen Moore performances by way of bootlegs ever since, and I do confess a few crossed fingers for a sick Ms. Ebersole the night I saw Grey Gardens, but alas I was unlucky.
If anyone else would like to make a submission, I'd love to have them all in by 7/22
Thanks!
Hey all
I'd love any final submissions by tonight
thanks
Chris
Does anyone have any really good scans of the posters/playbills of:
Grey Gardens
GYPSY 2003 Revival
Sunset Boulevard
Cabaret (Revival)
Les Miserables (OBC)
A Little Night Music (NYCO)
Looking for the best quality color jpegs I can get my hands on
Thanks!
Chris
Chris, I can make you GG and Gypsy ones tomorrow.
I wish she would make a cd. But of course, she would need to do Everyday a Little Death as she is mesmerizing in the NYCO version of it.
Her voice is like warm caramel being poured over a scoop of the most delicious ice cream. Rich and Enviting and filled so much.

I have my copy of the Les Miz OBC Playbill lying around somewhere. I could try and scan it.
thanks, that would be perfect :)
I'm going to put the playbill/poster design in the center of the page and surround it with the quotes from posts/PMs i've gotten about her performances.
I saw her go on for Peters in Gypsy and her magnificent performance wiped me out. I was in tears at the end of the first act, and was sobbing when she did Rose's Turn. She brought all the emotion that's so much a part of Rose's existence into play and her performance moved me greatly! I wrote her a letter, thanking her for such a fine performance, and got a lovely note from her.
Alas, I've since misplaced it, but I did enjoy her and hope to see her onstage when she's not a standby!
Logan, you can also feel free to use any of my posts about her. She's fab.
Sorry to bump up an old thread, but-
Does anyone know where I could possibly send Maureen a letter? She gave me the best birthday present I could possibly get; standing on a Broadway stage for the first time. I really want to thank her, but now that GG is closed, I don't know where to send it. If I send it to the theatre, will it be forwarded?
(I know this is a bit off topic from the original post, sorry.)
Sending stuff to the theatre after closing isn't a reliable way to get things to an actor I'm sorry to say. I would look for another public way to get something to her. If you know who her agent is. When she does another show. That kind of thing.
