re: Anyone else dislike...

See, you gave us your point of view, with a reason. I respect that a lot more.

And, it's true that I don't know you, but those first couple of posts came off as rather harsh.

I agree with that.

"Broadway animals" I like that! :)

Merman and LuPone also were/are more dedicated to the stage and to performing. Merman rarely missed shows reasoning that if people paid good money often months in advance for tickets to see her unless she was really really sick she owed it to them to show up and perform. LuPone is also not known for skipping performances. Didn't she just do several SWEENEYS with a cold? Streisand only did two shows and in the long run of FUNNY GIRL got bored quickly and began changing the blocking on a whim, or sleepwalking through the performance. Maybe it's a good thing that she hasn't been in a show in over 40 years.

Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!

I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com

"LuPone is also not known for skipping performances."

Tell that to the people who paid to see her in Sunset Boulevard after they announced Glenn Close would do the U.S. version.

If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.
