I always go to NYC to see shows. I've done all the other stuff. It's cool, but... eh.
my first trip to NYC I only saw one show and did all the "touristy" stuff. I raved about the city (mainly the ONE show) and convinced my mom to go back 6 months later. We did the "touristy" stuff again and saw two shows. 6 months later, we went for the sole purpose of shows...4 in 3 days. I'm glad I got to see the city but love that now, I can squeeze in as many shows as possible. It makes for a great trip!
p.s. we're planning our next trip for january...specifically for the shows...again :)
I finally went, just to see a show, to eat some good food and see Time Square, Macy's NY. I expected it to be terrible, traffic, bad cabbies, mean locals. It wasn't any of those things. Well, cab drivers could have been more informed and helpful, if they aren't I don't tip well. I was hearing cab drivers were complaining about not getting tips. If they don't help me with my luggage, they aren't getting much of a tip.
Except for Toy R Us, I was kind of disappointed that there weren't more nice stores downtown but the food was good! The people very nice and I had no trouble finding the Theater, getting tickets, it was even nice weather.
I am hoping to come back next year and yes, it will be for the shows! I mean, I can see pictures of buildings. I wouldn't mind seeing Central Park. Maybe one or two Museums but I hated leaving knowing there were so many shows I wanted to see. There just aren't many places to travel to that have so much variety in such a small area.
