I go just to see shows. Of course, my mom likes to do museums and stuff like that, too.
Us Long Islanders can get the city at any time. We are not in a foreign country, it's a 40 minute train ride. Whether it be a show, event, or even a date, I just hop on the train and go. The short ride does not exclude me from anything. I wish others would realize that I'm only a short distance away.
That's always my MAIN focus. Of course, I have certain shops that are a must if I'm up that way. And there is this Chinese place near Milos that has the BEST orange chicken!! Mmmm.

You mean, there's other stuff to do in New York City???
Just kidding! I actually just took my very first trip to NYC, based solely on the fact that I wanted to see Anthony and Adam in Rent. I also took a day trip to London last year when I studied abroad in Ireland to see Idina Menzel in Wicked. I slept in the airport - that's how much I love her.
i do.
Normally i will go on a friday evening then come back on a sunday .... so i get 4 shows in. Sometimes i just go saturday morning instead. But usually thats my sole purpose for going. I do other stuff as well but thats the main reason.
Definitely... I'll be seeing family because I'm staying with them and I'll hit a museum or two, but the whole reason I'm going on my trip (tomorrow) is to see RENT. Sometimes I go with my family and they're going for other reasons, but I'm going to see shows. lol.
I drive up from Pennsylvania about once every other month with the sole purpose of seeing shows. I grew up in Jersey, so going to do the touristy thing in NY doesn't really do anything for me. But I usually take off a Wednesday/Thursday go up and try to see about 3 shows then head home.
seeing shows was more important to me than anything!
Everything else (Museums...statue of Liberty)_ I did if I had time. But yea...it was all about seeing theater for me
me. I usually visit the city in a weekend, watch 3 shows in a row in two days.
I moved to NYC to see shows. Now I can't afford to see shows. I only see the shows I'm working at.
I mainly go to see shows too, but we stay with my aunt who lives in Brooklyn. So we walk around brooklyn and we visit the Brooklyn park, which is absolutely beautiful.

While I should say that my main purpose for coming to the city is to see friends, it is ultimately to see shows. I typically make a long weekend out of it and pack in 4 or 5 shows each time. I enjoy the restaurants and bars my friends take me to as well, but it is the shows that drive me to the city!
SDav 10495- I go to NYC to make money.
Which I then spend on food.
Which keeps me alive so I can spend money on shows.
Are you a prostitute. . . ?
I go for the shows, but I see other stuff while there.
I am, it's a sad crazy ammount of $$$ i got to spend just to get there so i will be doing one of those "how many shows can i cram into 7 days trip"
and ofcourse to shop, lol.
I just hope the weather improves by September
I go mainly for theatre but also to see friends. I am usually there for 8-9 days. Within those 8-9 days I spend time during the day at museums, walking the city or relaxing at my friends place, where I stay. I also like to go to a place in Chinatown to get tea. I can actually order it online, but I like waiting to go to the store when I am in town. Within those 8 days I see anywhere from 7 to 8 shows. And on the evenings/days I don't see a show, I hang out with my good friend there. Usually we go have dinner at a really nice place. Because of his line of work, some shows I attend while there I go to see with him. We go to these great receptions beforehand and a restaurant or club, walk away with gift bags most of the time and then go to a show.
I live in NY so the only reason I go to MIDTOWN is usually because of shows because it's just too touristy. But I do many other things in the city obviously.
I go to see shows primarily. And this summer, to work. The other times I hang out with friends in the city (and even then we sometimes see a show).
matton, that was always my worry, but fortunately, I have never been able to move to NYC even though I've tried really hard to, so I don't have that pesky problem.

I've gone just to see shows but I've done touristy things too.
I get to NYC 3-4 times a year just to see the shows. I live in Los Angeles.
I do have a few friends in NYC, and it's fun to see them, too.
Never been a musuem person and I've seen all the "touristy" things. So, I specifically come to NYC to see the Broadway shows.
Yes, the reason I always want to go so badly is to see the shows. However, the real reason my family lets me go every year is to see relatives that live in that area. We usually only see one show per trip but this time I saw two - "Grey Gardens" and "Mary Poppins" (MP was a last minute thing). When I am older I will go a lot more and see a lot more though.
I go for the shows and the street vendors.
Yes.
Yes, but I live right outside the city, so I'll go in for the day, see one or two shows, then jump on a train back home.
