Anyone know when the Rent soundtrack is going to released?

After about 200 people on the blogs asking weather or not there will be a soundtrack, does anyone know or have any idea when it will be released?

I think when the release date IS announced, you'll not be too hard-pressed to find some talk of it.

It's not really going to be small-scale news, I promise. You'll know when a date's set.

Anthony said it would come out long before the movie. So maybe September or October?

Soundtracks usually do come out wwaaaay before the movie. For example the "Phantom of the Opera" soundtrack was out at least 2 months before the movie :)

Why bother even making a new soundtrack? So many members of the cast are OBC that I wouldn't think that they would bother. But I guess making money is making money.

Now The Producers is going to be a soundtrack to purchase!

Save time and take the Rent cast recording and record Rosario's voice over Daphne's and then you got the Rent soundtrack.

true that might be "easier," but I remember reading in one of Anthony's posts (I don't know if it was here, CB, or on the Rent site) that they've recorded it with a much heavier rock sound. Personally, I couldn't be more excited for it...The same music, (most of) the same people, 10 years later.

It's supposedly a different and more evolved sound (no disrespect meant, however these performers ARE 10 years older and wiser with all that new experience under their belts). Can't wait for it!

Yeah if I loved the OBC CR from 1996 when they were all still fairly new to the lyrics, (in Adam's case to musical theatre in general) then I can only imagine what's going to happen to me when I hear this one. They were amazing then but its true, they have 10 years more of experience under their belts now and their voices have all matured and improved over time. Plus with the new added instrumentals, ohhh I can't wait! I will fall head over heels in love.

Well technically it'd be a soundtrack because it is to go with the movie this time, not the show. But either way, what does it matter, it'll still sound the same wether its called a CR or a Soundtrack.

it will be cool to listen to how their vouces have changed, and how they phrase things, etc. i bet we will hear a big difference in adam and idina, as they have done so many shows/performances since then. so excited.

I can't wait for the soundtrack but for now, as long as I listen to the original cast recording, I'll be fine. Still, it'll be awesome to hear Tracie and Rosario and the new orchestrations that are put in. The wait is long, but I'm sure it'll be well worth it.

I'm glad that they are making a RENT soundtrack because there are going to be major differences... each of the actors have grown over the 10 year time period, and so it'll be exciting to see the differences between the two different recordings.

They BETTER make a soundtrack!! i'm sure they will!

I mean, Seasons of Love sounds waaaaay different on the preview then the obc! I'm sure it will be the same with every song in the show!
