And if so, what did you think?

There are some positive reports about it over at ATC.
A couple of friends of mine saw it tonight and they said the energy in the theatre was absolutely electric. The theatre was filled with a lot of people involved with or who saw the original production and that the over all experience during the show was one of overwhelming nostalgia and true Broadway showbiz love. The experience of seeing the show in such an incredible enviornment was apparently thrilling....
But they said once they came home, the misgivings came in and that they had a lot of the same grievences most of us have been posting since the first preview in SF.
I'm sure we'll have a lot of reports on the first preview tomorrow, which should also have the benefit of an enthusiastic audience.

From what I've heard, I think half of BWW will be there tomorrow.
When are you going Margo?

Tomorrow and also next month shortly after opening.
I feel that way nowadays at the Theatre.
I enjoy it till I think about it later.
Having spent many nights standing at ACL
during it's first run, I imagine the revival
will touch me
but in a very different way.
It's about the "WANT"

I do wonder how the show will fare with audiences who are NOT going for the nostalgia of having seen the show in the original Broadway run. I was only 10 when the show closed on Broadway but I have seen one of the thousands regional productions supervised by Baayork Lee in the past. It'd be interesting to see how this production compares.

What a horrible choice to have to make - the dress of "ACL" or Celia Keenan-Bolger's final performance in "Spelling Bee"...well, "ACL" will be here tomorrow (and tonight)... while Celia in "Spelling Bee", won't be --- so Celia it was ...and no regrets since it was such a GLORIOUS send-off for a lovely and talented lady.
Going to first preview tonight!
I wish I was going tonight! I'm going to have to suffer through waiting until next weekend!
Is anyone else besides myself holding out for discounts? I'm hoping its eventually on TDF.
Center Orch Row C tonight... If discounts pop up, I'll probably go see again - but will still have to get second set of tickets to "Company" and tickets to "Pirate Queen" before that though.....

I saw it in SF with no nostalgia for (or even knowledge of, I know, it's awful of me) and I loved it. I actually think that people who saw the show in its original broadway run will be more disappointed, as I've heard it's pretty much the same show.
i'm going on the 30th. i'm excited :)
I agree shesamarshmellow, I saw it with no previous connection and loved it, but one of my friends who saw it and had seen previous incarnations had a different experience.
I'm expecting a lot of bitching and moaning in the next few days from those who saw the original. Can't say as I blame them, it's hard to toss aside a great theatrical experience for a revival one.
