I think that The Secret Garden is a wonderful show for high schools to do. Appropriate but also mature, and with more legitimate style of singing that should be easier on the voice. Also has a lot of roles.

Jimmy, what are you doing here in the middle of the night? It's almost 9 PM!

"Oklahoma!", is by far, the best musical for any high school to do because it will always work as long as it can be sung, has a multitude of leads and ensemble work, and is educational.

I also think that "Bye Bye Birdie" is a great musical for high schools because it's easy for high schoolers to committ to the teenage shenanigans.

"Once Upon a Mattress" is also a splendid choice due to its good book, high amount of leads (most of which can be male or female).

For a dance-heavy show, go with "42nd Street"

As far as modern musicals go, "Thoroughly Modern Millie" and "Seussical" are more complicated and more difficult, but are good choices. Updated On: 5/18/08 at 02:34 AM
