*nods*

Thank you.

I'm getting sick of people trying to shut me up because they don't want to concede to the fact that maybe they haven't got THEIR facts straight, and that someone else might be right, or at least closer to right. It's really f*cking pretentious. Everyone jumps up and down and begs for information on this movie, yet when they get it, they're not happy. *eyeroll* Don't shoot the messenger, buddy.

People also need to recognize that you aren't trying to throw it in their faces and go "Sh! Can't tell you!"

There is a difference between doing things like that (which is just plain rude) and clarifying what people are asking/speculating.

Yeah... I think it's been cleared up that that's not what I'm trying to do. Or at least I thought so. Most of the people on this board know how much I care about this movie, so they can recognize that that's NOT what I'm doing.

Chill the **** out, man, or girl, or whoever. First off, I wasn't trying to attack you in anyway maliciously in my post, I was simply suggesting not to knock others because of what you think or heard or saw. I hate to say it, but you have a way of trying to come off "holier than thou" because of what you know.

I mean, the fact that you say "I watched them shoot it, and I saw it on a monitor as it will appear on screen. If you know anything about the story, you can tell that this is very likely the beginning of the movie" gives me the message, "hey Ken, you're a dumb piece of ****, I don't know who the **** you know who's involved in the RENT movie, but kiss my ass, because I was there that night and I know how it's going to look."

And I know you're not trying to give that message, because nobody's that big of a bitch, but I *could* take it that way. Just as I wasn't attacking you by saying "if you don't know for sure, don't act like you know everything." But you did take it a different way.

Now - let's be adults and start again.

Hmm, I have a buddy up in Frisco who's an extra and says that Club Six is used as CBGBs. So, even though the opening sequence was filmed before the very eyes of LuvTheEmcee, perhaps they're filming more footage at "CBGBs" here to edit it in later to the opening sequence or another sequence.

What do you all think about that?

P.S. I'm totally psyched about April and Roger shooting up. That was one of the coolest parts of Pulp Fiction to me.

Look. If that post didn't read as slightly malicious, I wouldn't have reacted the way I did. Even if you weren't *trying* to do that, that's how it read, which is the problem of putting things online. I responded the way I did because of the way your message seemed to be addressed to me. Don't give it if you can't take it. I hate to say it, but you were acting like the "dumb f*ck" you think I was treating you as. I know this is a public board and eveyone has the right to do so and converse, but if you're going to jump into a conversation (especially one between two people where there's clearly some background of which you may be unaware) be careful about being so quick to call someone out - in this case putting me unnecessarily on the defensive. I wasn't snarky or snobbish about anything I was saying until you commented and got on my tail. I posted what I thought was right, just like everyone else on this thread was doing, but suddenly mine is "holier than thou" just because I gave more basis to back it than "oh, I found a scipt online?" Giiiive me break.

So, here comes my "adult" response.

I'm sick of tempers being caused to run so high over a movie and people provoking others over a movie. I'm not trying to *knock* others. People are talking about old scripts, though. I was having a discussion about something that's in the old script versus what might be a mistake now. This board is a place to share opinions, speculations, and theories. That's ALL I was doing. The versions of the script that people were referring to are old, and one of the places that that club is being used as is probably a mistake. That's just common sense. I think TGIF said it, and I don't think she'd be afraid to tell me if I was - I am NOT trying to wave information in people's faces because I had it, but it gets really ridiculous when there's invalid information flying around. Half of the answers to this incorrect stuff can be found by just reading the right things. Anthony Rapp posts on this board. Don't you think *his* information is correct?

Also, I'm not saying that CBGB's isn't appearing in the movie, because I don't know that. I'm saying that I'm pretty sure it's not in its original context, which would've been the opening sequence. The opening of the original screenplay was Roger performing with his band at CBGB's. They were singing Rent. Maureen was wasted, and she threw up on Roger's feet while he was on stage. Mark was in the audience taping, and then he sang the last bit of the song on stage with Roger and the band. In high likelihood, that's not the opening of the film anymore, which was all I was saying. Chances are that there ARE flashbacks to the band at a club like CBGB's, and April HAS been cast in the movie, so she may very well be there. If you read, that's all I was saying. I wasn't saying I knew the club was out because it's probably not the opening; I was saying that it's probably not the opening and didn't look like it would make sense to stick in there and just tack it on right before the part I saw. ASIDE from my speculation, there is official say that the vast majority of Chbosky's additions and alterations to the show's original form (a drastic example of which would be the CBGB's opening scene) have been removed from the film. And that's NOT me talking. The scene is probably going to end up in one of the flashback scenes. Basic reading comprehension.

Who knows? Maybe all of those reports from the SF papers are correct, and they're using both clubs? Maybe there's more than one club in this really sketchy area in SF - one for CBGB's and one for the Cat Scratch? Can't believe everything you read and hear, and we'll probably never know until we see the film credits in November.

I hope that all makes sense. I wasn't planning on having to spell everything out. *sigh*

For the record, I'm a girl.

*condescending pat* You guys are missing the point of Rent! It's about peace and acceptance and NDBT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111one!!!!!!!!!!!

Aww F*CK it, keep on keepin' on. I'm staying out of it, but reading eagerly with a pail of popcorn.

ANYWAY - I think, and I don't know (YET re: April and Roger RENT Movie) what Emcee saw, so this is pure speculation from me - is it possible that "Rent" (the song) will be a montage of clips, both flashbacks as well as "present"? It would explain CBGB's presence. I thought it was interesting what someone said about CBGB being part of OSG (or did I imagine that? I'm too tired to scroll back) - I just hate the idea of the song being anything but Roger angsting in the present, because I can see flashbacks coming off cheesy and detracting from the emotional punch the song should have.

Next thing, who's been cast as April?

Finally, does anyone know where I can get a CBGB vintage tee? I've been wanting one for a while and I don' think their official website mails to Canada. Does Urban Outfitters still carry them?

Peace, love and snarkiness!

*hugs BWW*

I was just thinking about it, and since Roger goes out west, maybe he starts the song Living in America in SF and after "I quit" they come back to the good ol' NYC. Just a thought.

I agree with you - I think it'll be both Santa Fe and NYC - I just hope they don't do a corny split screen of Mark and Roger or those dramatic "fade ins", because that might be the part where I check out. re: April and Roger RENT Movie

I'm really glad they are adding the April/Roger flashbacks. Those should be really good. Although seeing Adam cry might just break my heart. :-P

Well there is supposed to be the scene where he finds April in the bathtub after she's killed herself and he's supposed to start sobbing and that'll cue me. SO SAD. Watching Adam Pascal grieve.....noooo.

Your post, Emcee, reemphasizes the fact that you tend to have a "holier than thou" attitude. Just because you saw the movie being made. Or just because your Adam's biggest fan. Or just because you had him sing to a spork, you act as though we owe you everything for your information.

And you say "I'm not trying to rub this info in anyone's faces, and I'm sick of the animosity" but you go right out and do it again. And I know you don't mean to. At least I hope you don't, otherwise that would make you a c*cksucking c*nt bag, but that's definitely what you come off as.

And if there wasn't any animosity before, there is now. This statement, just so you're not confused, and just so I'm not a "dumb f*ck" as you called me, is meant maliciously.

Good God, nobody owes me anything, and that's not what I'm saying. I'm just as eligible to post information and speculation about this film as anybody regardless of what I've done or not done. Or, wait... maybe.... huh. Obviously just because I have information, that makes me less able to participate in a discussion? I have to watch what I say so simply stating something doesn't come off as anything else or doesn't potentially make me look bad? Just becuase I have information and saw things that make what I say closer to correct than other things that might be floating around the internet shouldn't automatically make a statement of that information appear like that. Please. If I say I don't mean to, and you say you KNOW I don't mean to, then what's the point of slapping me around and telling me that's how it sounds? Obviously it's a flaw in the way things come off in writing, then, wouldn't you agree?

"Dumb f*ck" was your phrase. I said you were acting like the "dumb f*ck" you insisted I was treating you as, which causes this just to go back in circles again - to the "well, I know you're not like this, and I know you didn't mean it like this, but this is how it came off anyway, so I'm going to beat you up over it." What? Do you want me just to lie down and play dead, admit you're right and come out and say that I'm trying to be a cold-hearted b*tch? You just yourself said that's NOT how I come off, yet you seem to be trying to get me to back into the accusation that I am.

The statement about the animosity was general, because almost every thread on this film turns into a fight, no matter who between. One person starts, and it spirals because we constantly have to prove things to one another.

This is ridiculous. If you have anything else to take up with me, I have a PM button.

*sigh*

To clear up some confusion I found some quotes from this thread.

Emcee wrote: "If they meet in CBGB's, it's most likely a flashback. April IS in the movie, though"

Emcee wrote (again): "Because I saw what I'm pretty certain is the opening sequence of the movie. It's not CBGB's. I don't want to post what it IS, because I don't know if I'm allowed to, but if that's the starting point, anything with April only makes sense to be a flashback."

AdamIsGod...wrote: "And LuvTheEmcee, do you know for a fact that what you saw is the opening sequence? If not, then stop trying to set it in stone if you don't know everything."

From what I read Emcee never said she was right, in fact she said "most likely" and "pretty certain".

AdamIsGodIamJesus, I honestly don't see how you thought she was trying to "set things in stone" which is what started this argument.

I follow the Anthony Rapp thread (hardly post there) for Anthony's movie updates. He has stated many times that the current screenplay is very, very close to the liberetto. That coupled with what we saw (the scene followed by the opening measures of 'Rent') it is a fairly safe to surmize that what we say is the opening sequence.

I will not stoop to name calling, and I am stating that this post is NOT malicious.

Also, the first mention of a "dumb (enter profanity)" was mentioned by you Adamis....

"you can tell that this is very likely the beginning of the movie" gives me the message, "hey Ken, you're a dumb piece of ****."

Well, there's some civility. Contrary to today's popular belief, I can do that too.

You will see them shooting up, by the way. Anthony posted a few days ago in reference to someone asking about censorship of the film. Truth be told, freaks me out like you wouldn't believe.

Edit - thanks, TGIF. That's what I mean. I never came out and said my word was the be-all, end-all truth about this. I used more modifiers than anyone should ever use in such a short space to make sure that was understood.
