@CarlosAlberto

I think the initial questions of the thread are interesting and worth discussing - it's just this added layer of unnecessary confusion around "biographical" musicals in general that has over-complicated this thread. I unintentionally set that confusion into motion initially but trying to clear it up, and return to the initial - and much more straightforward - thread topic.

Yes, they're "all musicals," but there are different kinds of musicals. Discussing labels, classification, and dramaturgical form isn't an exact science, but it's very interesting to many people, and can help us get a better understanding of this art form that we're all invested in.

But you're not obligated to continue reading this thread if you don't find it interesting.

Apologies if i misunderstood you - what part of your post was sarcasm?

Based on your "beating a dead horse" comment it still doesn't sound like you're being sarcastic from my end. Flippant and uninterested, maybe, but still sincerely judgemental, and that judgement was what I was responding to.

@Carlos, as JBroadway says, you are free to come and go at will, but your denigration of this discussion is offensive.

Some of us find jukebox musicals, whether biographical or not, an existential issue: damaging to the art form, bad for Broadway. If there is a dead horse in this thread, it's what we will find on the rialto if we keep it up.

Maybe you should think about spreading a little happy pride to the folks who actually make musical theatre.
