I was first in the cancellation line for Les Miz last Friday, April 6. When the cancellation tickets were offered around 7:40 pm, I was told that two tickets are available, not one. I wanted to buy only one ticket for myself. Luckily, there was another person who wanted one ticket. So the two of us got our tickets and it was worth it. There were no substitutions for Les Miz for that night. Everyone, including the ensemble, played their expected roles.
Are cancellation tickets only offered in pairs? Can I buy a single ticket? Or how about three tickets?

No. You can buy only one if there is at least 1 ticket available.

The box office employee told me only two were available. I had to buy two. There were only two people waiting in the cancellation line for Les Miz.
I was very happy with my seat, C5 orchestra.
So if you are planning to see a show alone and planning to wait in the cancellation line, do you need to get someone who is also seeing the show alone to buy the tickets?

No. If you are alone and tickets become available, you should be able to purchase one ticket.
