According to the Pantages in LA, the ORCH has rows A-Z and then NN-ZZ which, unless I've lost my mind, is 39 rows.
But the website says it's 36 rows. http://www.broadwayla.org/pantages/seating.asp
So, you know how most tall buildings don't have a 13th floor?
Why are 3 rows missing according to my count? They obviously left some out on purpose unless the website has a typo?

I think row designations sometimes get screwed up when rows are removed and put back in again for different shows. I don't know what the case is here, though.
I'm thinking it's a typo on their part...it wasn't talking about any show specifically. But then again, they did completely restore the theater for Lion King back in 2002.

Plum, I agree. In London's Theatre Royal Drury Lane they used the theatre for sunday concerts when MISS SAIGON was playing there, and they were able add more seats (even though the auditorium already has about 2000 seats!) by reducing the size of the orchestra pit.
So if they do the same with the Pantages in L.A. depending on the production no wonder there are several versions of the seating chart. It's the first couple of rows that change in that case.
If I'm not mistaken most venues (theaters, stadiums, etc.) do not have a row I or a row O.
I think it is because I is confusing with the number 1 and O is confusing with the number 0.
Take a look next time you visit a theater.
I think this is right unless I am misunderstanding the question.

According to Jodé Susan Millman's book Seats New York, only 3 Broadway theatres actually have row I on the orchestra level: Broadway Theatre, Majestic Theatre (has row I both orch AND rear mezz) and Royale Theatre (has it on orch but missing from mezz!).
Row O (letter) is missing only from 4 Broadway houses: Marquis, New Amsterdam, New Victory and Walter Kerr. All the other theatres have row O on orchestra level.
