If they are from the original production or some other incarnation or production of the musical I think it's shady advertising. Especially for a show that hasn't event had it's first preview. But it does happen quite often.
Brilliant! An outrageously funny and wildly innovative musical. -The New York Times
Groundbreaking and undoubtedly ahead of its time. -Entertainment Weekly

Well yes, but also when a news source reports on a show, they might say "Hedwig, which at the time that it premiered was groundbreaking and undoubtably ahead of its time, is unfortunately an awful show"
Or
"While not the best rock musical ever, Hedwig is certainly interesting and has a devoted fan base"

You seem to know the answer, no? I mean, they haven't reviewed the NPH version.
But they seem to have used quotes about the concept of the show, and not any of the performers. Seems fair until there are reviews.
Then again, if you look at how the tickets are selling, they could have just left them black and been OK.
The original show was well received, ran for two years in a theater that was way off the beaten path and required lots of walking from the nearest subway, lol. Trust me, it's a good show
