I saw ASSASSINS during the run it had at the Roundabout last year (year before??)with Michael Cerveris, Mario Cantone, Neil Patrick Harris... etc. It was fabulous. If it's true that it's returning I'd like to see it again.
It would be great for a national tour of ASSASSINS, I suspect they would need a marquee value name to ensure ticket sales, howevever.
A road tour would be a hard sell. Most road houses are 3,000 seats. ASSASSINS plays best in a small imtimate theatre. Even Studio 54 was a little too large. Circle in the Square would have been good. The Booth theatre would be appropriate, don't you think?
Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!
I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com
LOL @ Booth Theatre... I can't see it coming back right away (nor can I see it on National Tour for the reasons expressed)... I didn't see this version, but saw the original - and, though I would love to get another chance, what I'd really like is to see something new from Mr. S...
