If they didn't deserve it, they wouldn't be nominated. Of course, I'm not arguing that; it's obvious. Nor am I saying I wouldn't be happy if he won. I adore him and of COURSE would be more than thrilled for an proud of him. But it would be bittersweet. The whole premise of a group of nominees is how much one deserves it relative to his competition. But it's also about being deserving in comparison the rest of your work, too, I think.
(And if he wins, he deserves it? Really? Raul is absolutely an award-worthy actor, but I'm sorry, that's a ridiculous thing to say, that all nominees are deserving -- how many times have things won that the general consensus has been it didn't deserve it? How many things win out of politics. Sure, nominations and wins mean SOMEBODY thinks they're worthy, but it doesn't mean objectively deserving.)
