ugh, im really torn.. idk how I feel about her. But one thing is certain.. she definitely needs to rehearse in different attire, you don't see anyone else like that hahah

Hmmm...

I'm surprised actually. I thought she'd be terrible, but (even though the footage is limited) she actually looks like she could put on an okay performance. Now, we'll see about that after 8 shows a week, but I'm willing to give her the benefit of the doubt for now.

broadway is as dead/alive as you make it.. plus horrible casting decisions involving people with minimum talent has gone on for years.. doesn't seem to be killing anything.

why would they have anyone start a show on a friday? dont they usually wait for the day gap between shows (mondays)

it is the producers choice of when they start the replacement, and they usually start the first or second performance for that week.
hairspray has two new swings this week summer broyhill and joey haro. jackie polk who is a swing is in the role as penny this week when niki scalera who will be back from her vacay on july 29th.
i am not saying anything about aubrey performance yet but she signed on for six months.

She actually has a nice Broadway voice. She's been performing in musicals since she was a kid. I actually read that being on Broadway used to be her dream, but the 'Making the Band' opportunity just happened to come first.


Good for her; great part for her. She'll do a good job.

I'm a big fan of Aubrey's from making hte band. I think she has everything needed to be a really good Amber. First of all, eight shows a week isn't daunting to her. She has crazy rehearsals for Danity Kane and so, she is used to the grueling task demanded of her. I'm just impressed she is managing to balance both.

She also is a phenomenal dancer and while she doesn't have the best vocals in Danity Kane, her voice is strong enough to carry the role of Amber which isn't incredibly vocally demanding. I'm excited to see her!

i am rooting for her too and so happy that her first dream has come true. i wish her all the best during her run but i have to say i will love to see her as penny.

It's not uncommon for a "celebrity" to join a cast on a Friday; Diana DeGarmo(during her second run) and Ashley Parker Angel both started on a Friday.

From what I could hear in the video, which wasn't that much, Aubrey doesn't sound bad. And she'll absolutely be better than Haylie Duff; I doubt they'd be able to find someone worse that they'd be willing to cast in the role.

I was there at Aubrey's first performance. Even though I wasn't a big fan of hers when she was on MTV, I have to admit she did a very good job, especially for her first night. She's a good dancer, her singing was good, and she looked really good in Amber's wig & costumes. I've seen more than 10 different Ambers and Aubrey's definitely in my top 3.

I cringed when I saw her headshot in the playbill. It's hideous.



Didn't stay long for stagedoor, but it wasn't as crazy as I thought.

While Mr. Telsey and Co. have cast a fair amount of hugely sucessful shows, they're not completely infaliable. But the jury remains out on this casting.
