Specifically, a community theatre production (trying to gain more experience) with an audition I don't think went well.
I set too fast a tempo for the song and skewed up my last note. I feel like anything that happened after was all downhill from there. (the only other thing they had me do was test out my vocal range (which fell short of my usual range- which I put on my resume...) and try a spanish accent for a certain character.
My main question is- should I be so worried? I know I'm not in their heads at all, and I can't see how I really did. There were some good signs- the college I go to for theatre seemed to be a good thing in their eyes, and they seemed to like what's on my resume. They also made sure I knew about callbacks and not to worry if I don't hear back before their second date of auditions. (I know none of that guarantees anything in either direction.)
My other question- would it be absolutely unprofessional and a bad idea to chance it and ask if I could give the audition a second try?
1. It's comunnity theater....so no one is a professional.
2. Worrying is a wasted emotion, as there isn't anything you can do about their thoughts or decisions.
3. are they still holding auditions? If so, it can't hurt to at least ASK, but I wouldn't....what if they already thought favorable of you....this could make you seem lacking confidence.
4. If this audition falls through there will be others.

The best thing you can ever learn about auditioning is this: Once it's over, forget about it. Move on. Focus on the next one. (Granted, that's easier when you're auditioning every day rather every once in awhile.)
