So, I'm auditioning for Sound of Music, for the role of Freidrich. I have to choose 2 songs that are from that era of musicals (50's/60's).
I've been thinking:
Something's Coming- West Side Story
and
I Believe in You- How to Succeed
If you have ANY better suggestions, please let me know! Thanks!

Friedrich has an unchanged voice, so neither of those would work in the original key.

Billy Elliot has many leads with unchanged voices. Perhaps you could sing "Expressing Yourself". I second "Whistle a Happy Tune".

It's a little later in the 60s, but "My Best Girl" from "Mame" might work as a kid-ballad.

...and since you have to have two songs, I'm assuming they want an uptempo and a ballad-ish. In addition to "My Best Girl" (ballad-ish) you might try "OLIVER!" for "Consider Yourself", which I suspect might be a popular (therefor redundant) choice.
["Where is Love?" from the same show is also a ballad, but is often connected with all the adult versions, PLUS is so "boo-hoo-waif-like" as not to have the "Sound of Music" positivity feeling; as a musical director myself, I'd NOT recommend that one.]
"Gary, Indiana" from "The Music Man" is a LOT of fun to sing...with or WITHOUT the character's famous lisp. (Though the lisp DOES make it a kick in the pants, make sure the auditioning "board" knows you can sing without it.)
And, of course, if you are a really off-the-wall person, and the auditioning "board" is also a little weird, you could always just sing "Sodomy" from "Hair" -- great high note at the end. (JOKE-ING.)
