Hey guys...just a few questions. I have an audition for a summer program at a school in the city, and the requirement is to perform one classical (they suggest we stick to Shakespeare)and one contempory monologue. I was wondering if any of you, off hand, had any suggestions for any really goosd monolgues to do, or if you knew of any specific play that may be beneficial to look into. I've been looking through monologue books, but there's a lot to choose from, so any suggestions would be great! Also, I was wondering if classical monolgues should be performed with a specific dialect (I've never touched classical before...so I'm not too sure on this).
If you have any other advice that would be great! Thanks.

Also, stay away from Neil Simon. Every Simon monologue is so overdone by this point, it's not even funny. (Just to clarify, I'm not saying I don't like Neil Simon because he's a genius.) Just my two cents.

You will get a lot more insight into the character and you'll be ready to answer any questions that might be asked of you about it. It really is worth the hour or two it takes to read it.

Go to this website: www.whysanity.net/monos/others.html
They have some good play monologues, as well as movie ones and some musicals.
