This afternoon, I was having myself an Audra McDonald Youtube concert and I realized in the midst of it that if and when Ms.McDonald goes to London for a show, she would be making her West End debut. To me, it sounds crazy! Has anyone else had that revelation before or is it me just being weird?

I get where you are coming from, but there are a lot of very talented people who have yet to make their London debuts. I'm sure Audra (along with many others), have played London, but have not actually done a show there. If I remember correctly, there were rumors and talk that Lady Day would be going to London with her. Anyone have any info on if this is still in the works?

She does a have a young-ish child, right? Probably why she's never done an extended show over there. Maybe a summer run or something?

Not extremely young. I think her daughter is around 13.

Her concerts at the Donmar were part of a series of one-person shows. Betty Buckley also did a gig.

The Donmar has a capacity of about 250 so it was an intimate show, but at the time of the shows Audra was not that high-profile in London so it was about the right size venue.
