ABC Publicist confirms it. Nice to have Miss McD back on TV!
I really liked the woman playing Addison's BFF, but Audra will do fine!

Wow, as much as I love Merrin Dungey, I am excited for Audra!
Yay! Can't wait to see it!
wow wasn't looking forward to this AT ALL and now I'm gonna be hooked!

I love Audra and am SO EXCITED!!
So wait, Audra is playing the exact same role that Dungey already played on the pilot? Is it the same character and they're just changing the actress who plays it? I hate it when shows do that. Oh well, I'm glad for Audra, she won me over when I saw her at 110 IN THE SHADE.
Wow...that must be a huge blow for Merrin...if the show is a hit (which is just could be) that's a high profile job taken away.
While I loved her in Alias (she was WONDERFULLY bad as the evil Francie) she wasn't as strong when she returned to The King of Queens and seemed a bit flat on the pilot for Private Practice.
I think Audra and Taye will be a nice match.
Good for Audra...maybe they'll let her do a cartwheel on the show sometime =)
YES!!!!!!! Can't wait!
does anyone think this may be one of the reasons why 110 didn't extend again?
YES! YES! YES!
I was not looking forward to this show at all, but Taye Diggs, Kate Walsh, AND Audra McDonald might be too much to pass up.

I want my McDonald on Broadway, but this will have to do.
I'll take my McDonald anywhere I can get it.
Too bad about Taye Diggs, though. Kiss of death.
I'm kind of sad that now we're not going to see audra back on broadway now for at least a year.
That's great for Audra! She deserves every success. Although, it always seems like a little bit of a shame when she does a project where she won't be sharing her thrilling singing voice with the world. But I hope the show does well! I wonder what the cause of the change of casting is!
hey, maybe she'll really get a chance to be raunchy!
An audra sex scene?!?! Now that would be raunchy!
<< does anyone think this may be one of the reasons why 110 didn't extend again? >>
This might have something to do with "110" not extending...
I had heard on 3 different occasions at the "54" box office
that they were just about certain that show would be extended to Labor Day-- dont know what happened.
Hmmm... I might have to check this out now.
As for replacing an actor from a pilot, that actually happens a lot. The network, the producers, the directors...someone or a group of someones decide that the person in the pilot really isn't working...or they make some changes in the direction of the show (sometimes drastic...I saw the original pilot of Crossing Jordan and it was considerably different than what they ended up with) and the pilot casting doesn't work. Things happen.
It's kind of like shows closing. You know it's a possibility when you take a job in a pilot that you might get recast if the show gets picked up.
I know that, look at the BROTHERS & SISTERS pilot that starred Betty Buckley.
I just find it odd that this pilot actually aired already so people already saw another person in the role unlike most unaired pilots where audiences don't really get to see the cast changes.
They could do the soap opera announcement when she walks on "The role of...will now be played by Audra McDonald." Or else they'll just do it and figure people will forget who played it over the summer hiatus.
