"[Lonny] Price and [Audra] McDonald will do the first Broadway revival of 110 in the Shade, the Harvey Schmidt-Tom Jones musicalized Rainmaker, for Roundabout next year."

hmm, interesting i guess but price doesnt have the best track record recently.
but i am more interested in audra's next gig - Houston Opera. she is singing two one-act, one-woman operas. the first is a new one by LaChuisa entitled "send (who are you? i love you)" about romance and the internet. the second is poulenec's "la voix humaine" in english!
and check out an audra blog, her rehearsal journal online:

Audra always said she wasn't interested in revivals, though I guess her playing Lizzie is a first of sorts. I always kind of laugh when we get the FIRST Broadway revival of things like WONDERFUL TOWN, SOUND OF MUSIC and SOUTH PACIFIC and 110 IN THE SHADE that have been done for years at NYCO.

110 IN THE SHADE has a gorgeous score, perfectly suited to Audra's voice. As much as I love Karen Ziemba, her singing on the NYCO complete recording is sometimes uncomfortably high and mars what is otherwise an almost perfect recording. Inga Swenson and Robert Horton really cook on the OBC as well.

Wouldn't Patrick Wilson make a sensational Starbuck?????
Is Lonnie Price listening?

I'd pay to hear Audra sing the phone book, or dictionary. Everything she sings turns to gold ( and usually Tony too ! )
YAY!! I wont be in SC anymore! I have a chance in hell to see it. BTW, maybe the blogging experience will push the wonderful Ms. McDonald toward getting a website of her own. (fingers crossed!!)

This sound fantastic!!! I can't wait!
That sounds exciting. I never thought that that show would be revived for some reason.
