"they" don't give a rat's a**. this was a vanity project, that was in fact DOA. The writer got it right.

The writer understood that this was DOA and that any chance it had was delusional.

I unfortunately find that most of what Forbes publishes on its theatre beat is pretty oblivious and naive, so in general I am not impressed. But I criticize ideas and errors, not people or publications. I have said this about about posts I react to on here. There are some people who tend to be more wrong than right, or who post things they don't understand, or without regard to facts. They develop a reputation, but when they say something that's correct, or even astute, I don't let their reputation get in my way. I think just about every person on here that I frequently criticize (because they are frequently wrong, etc) has also received acknowledgement when they said something right or that I agreed with. (There is one exception...)

Aren't autopsies only performed when the cause of death isn't evident?

You can certainly criticize his work, but to lay the blame for the commercial failure of the production at his feet seems to require turning a blind eye to a host of other reasons. The truth is, most people who needed to come see this but didn't have no idea what Jack O'Brien did or did not do. As I have said elsewhere, revivals are dicey propositions under the best of circumstances, and Carousel does not present the best of circumstances in any event.

If Spongebob was always meant to be a limited run, why didn't they just say so?

I have no doubt that had they been financially successful, they had a back up plan to fall back on - if the theater was unwilling to put off renovations. They didn't spend all the money they did to lose it.
