I saw Ave Q on Sunday and the new lyrics in For Now was "George Bush was". Is this the new permanent lyric change?
Per production team, they're rotating the four candidates from the contest (on a specific timeframe)
Unless I completely missed something I'm almost positive there were absolutely NO plans or intentions to do "George Bush Was.." ??
Am I missing something or is this person making it up?
well I hope they are making it up because it wouldn't make sense to say "George Bush was only for now"
wouldn't it be "George Bush was only for then"?
I am not making it up. I knew about the 4 lines they were rotating so I was very surprised to hear the George Bush was line on Sunday. It did get a laugh.
It almost sounds like someone goofed and caught themselves to put in was without anyone noticing a hitch.

I think "George Bush was" would be the funniest line. I'd prefer that over any of the other choices...

But he's not "for now" he was "for then". So what they're saying is that they're going to kill Bush.
No he WAS only "for now".
LOL
"Bush was..." doesn't make sense at all. It gets laughs because any mention of George W. Bush will get laughs.
It was funny when he was President. It's not that funny anymore, in my opinion.
Is that the best they can think of?
Beyond the 4 terrible nominations, I still believe the creative team should have just masked one of their own as a nominee in the contest. That way they still get the publicity AND have a good choice in there.

No, it makes sense. He was only for now--he is out of office now. It's an example of what Avenue Q is about--everything is life is only for now--even one of the worst presidents the US has had was only for now.
But it's going to get old.
In my honest opinion, it's a lame cop-out. Think of something fresh and funny.
Don't keep the same phrase and change a word. Boring.
