Has anyone been to Avenue Q lately? I'm especially curious how the George Bush line is being received as we head into the last couple of weeks until the election. Well, I'm sure there is lots of applause, but is the crowd going wild?
With the London production announcing a closing, do you think the New York production can last until Inauguration Day?

Do you want to know about the Broadway version or the tour? When I saw the tour last week, it badly needs the attention of the director as most of the cast, Carey Anderson the exception, comes across as a stage full of divas fighting each other for attention. McClure and Benoit were so over the top to seem like runaway trains. McClure's manipulation of the puppets was not really in sync with his voices. He came across as "look how cute and clever I am" not as the characters. Benoit was too hammy for my taste (no pun intended)
I am making these observations as a director myself. Others will probably disagree. Friends in other cities have said McClure was excellent. Perhaps he has been in the show too long.

I saw Q on 10/6 and the Bush line still gets a huge laugh, cheers, and applause.

Just bumping this up. If anyone goes tonight, I'd love to hear your thoughts/reactions!
The Bush line is still getting big applause.
At first I was irritated: "They've been saying that for five years, we get it, Georgy is bad, we don't like him!"
And then I realized. No wonder people still respond: the election is today.
George Bush really IS "only for now."
And I teared up a little.
(oh, and the show is still awesome, despite an undistinguished cast)
Does anyone know what they are going to do after today? I recall reading somewhere that Marx and Lopez said they would change the name. Does anyone know for certain? In either way, we'll find out tomorrow night!
I'm quite excited to see the change, in fact am seeing it on Saturday just to find out the change!
My guess is they'll keep it in until January 20, and as much as I hate to say it...we'll see if they're still around after that.

Could the line change though be as simple as 'George Bush WAS only for now'?
