Hello Everyone,
I am coming to NY from out of town next week and wanted to see Avenue Q. My question is I wanna try the lottery which I saw is done 2 hrs prior to curtin. If I don't win lottery tickets do you think I would be able to purchase tickets for that evenings performance right after the lottery using a discount code or does avenue q sell out. It would be on a weeknight next week. Also how crowded is the lottery these days? Thanks

They offered a discount for rear mezz seats for about $31 for those who wanted to see the show but lost the lottery one of the times I tried the lottery, not sure if that was a one time shot or not, but it was well worth it. If not it will most likely be up on the TKTS board.
Enjoy the show!

How much are the tickets at TKTS and also what time do they start selling at TKTS.
Thanks

TKTS tickets are usually 50% of the regular ticket cost. Sometimes it's only 35% off ~ the sign will let you know which one. I think it's usually the orchestra cost. Cash or travelers cheques only.
And I believe for an evening performance it's 3pm ~ or maybe that's just on 2 show days.

The sign up for the AVE Q ticket lottery starts at 5:30 during the week, and the drawing is at 6:00. The lottery tickets are $21.25 each, and cash only.
If you name doesn't get drawn, you'll have plenty of time to walk over to TKTS and/or to the Box Office. And, yes, you can use the various discount codes/vouchers.
As for the crowds, in general, the Winter Slow Period (a.k.a. Season of Savings
) has started this week, so your chances for getting a lottery ticket should be pretty good - for AVE Q or almost any other show On and/or Off-Broadway. -It all depends if a group comes in and signs up en masse. Just be sure to keep printouts of the discount vouchers in your pocket just in case. *And remember, with the discount vouchers, you can pay for your tickets with a credit card at the box office - and have a better idea of where your seat will be - if you want to hold on to your cash.

Sorry to bump this thread, but I figured it would be better than making another one...
Does anyone know how large the crowds have been lately?
I have some friends here from out of town and they really want to see Ave. Q, so they are trying the lotto tomorrow. I, however, would love to ditch them and check out EIE. There are five of us, and I figure I'll be the odd one out...

I went a couple of Mondays ago, and I did not win. There were around 40 people at the drawing. It sucks how few seats they give out.
I'm going again tomorrow. If I don't get them this time, then I'm just gonna do TKTS..unless they have good deals on ORCH seats. Do any of you guys know if they do?

Posted: 1/27/08 at 11:53amThe good orchestra seats at Ave Q are not discounted. BUT, you can get very good front/center Mezz seats. Just go to schooltix.com or broadwaybox.com

Thanks george95,
Unfortunately, they don't have any tickets available for tomorrow night's performance. It's alright though, TKTS will probably have decent seats left after tomorrow night's lottery drawing.

Posted: 1/27/08 at 12:36pmYeah that's weird tomorrow night's show was blacked out for some reason. There are only 800 seats in the theater so you'll be ok, and you could always try and print out the broadwaybox.com discount or the playbill.com discount and take it to the theater (if you dont want to use cash at TKTS)

The show isn't playing tonight (1/2
. I went to TKTS and it wasn't listed, so I went to the box office. They moved things around because of the superbowl on Sunday. They will have a Wednesday show instead, but I am unsure of what the Sunday schedule is.

Has anyone been to the Q lotto recently? I'm thinking about going March 1 matinee. However, I DO want to get tickets no matter if I win or not...do you think that will be feasible?
If we don't win, do you think we'll have time to walk down to TKTS, wait in line there, and be back in time for the show? (Assuming it's avaiable on TKTS).

Posted: 2/17/08 at 6:29pmThere were lots (40+) of people at the lottery yesterday and someone won with one ticket and nobody wanted the other one, so they ended the lottery with one seat in the front row left over. Walked over to TKTS afterwards and Avenue Q was not up there.
#14re: Avenue Q Ticket Question
Posted: 2/17/08 at 6:33pmThere were a lot of seats in the orchestra left when I went a couple of weeks ago. If you don't win the lottery, then get a code and buy discounted tickets from the box office.

Just in case anyone cares. I did the evening lotto last night at Q and won....I was the 3rd name called.
There was only like 30 people there so if you are thinking about doing Q lotto, you have a good chance.
I wasn't all that fond of Jonathan Root who was the understudy. I've seen it 9 times and prefer the 3 I saw previously.
But don't get me wrong, Jonathan he wasn't bad...

Posted: 4/15/08 at 11:03pmMy family did the lottery last Thursday night and not only did everyone win, there were left over lottery seats. Five of us were trying for only two people and we could have all gone, but the rest of us had already seen it. So I'd say your chances are pretty good.
