Avenue Q and a their Tony performance

I think we can all agree that Avenue Q will be nominated for Best Musical this year. In this new ear of crack downs on the media, which song do you think Avenue Q will do for their Tony performance? I can name a lot that they can’t do but which one will the censors allow that still conveys what Avenue Q is? Everyone’s is a Little Bit Racist comes to mind, no cussing, lots of cast members and still has the Avenue Q feeling. Can they do this number? I can’t see them allowing The Internet is for Porn or My Girlfriend Who Lives in Canada. LOL

Fine, Fine Line...nice song, but I don't think its a Tony performance one. Same with The More You Ruv someone. She is excellent at it, but it won't draw in the correct audience.

They should do "It Sucks to Be Me." That introduces most of the characters and there's nothing thats really bad in it. It's also pretty funny too!!

they did IF YOU WERE GAY for Broadway on Broadway and for the Drama Desks. There seems to be a pattern. few evidence, but consistent.

I also give a vote to For Now- that gets the Avenue Q deep theme out there and gets everyone laughing. That song is pretty powerful and does use the whole cast I believe. I wonder what Wicked will do. Probably the full version of Defying Gravity because technically its a duet and for those who've seen it, you all know how powerful that number is.

At the Drama Desk last year they did "If You Were Gay and Everyone is a Little Bit Racist."

I just came from seeing Avenue Q. Loved it! More heart and more to say than any other show on the boards right now. I hope they get to do Everyne is a little bit racist.

If they do "It Sucks To Be Me" they'll have to cut out Kate Monster cursing at one point.
I think they should do "For Now" just to get that great reaction when they say, "Geroge Bush...is only for now!" LOL

They won't do "Racist" because there's only one puppet in it. They should do "It Sucks" and just eliminate Kate's one profanity. It introduces most of the main characters and really whets your appetite to see the whole show.

Another vote for "It Sucks to Be Me". It provides a good introduction to the characters and the world, style and sensibility of Avenue Q. It features the company and most of the puppets. But we'll see what they choose!

Woo. It Sucks To Be Me! That is my favorite number but i also love the "Internet Is For Porn"
I bet they can't do it because of tv and kids.
But i love it.

I think they should also have the puppets dressed in gowns and tuxedos for the Tonys. LOL It would be so funny to see them all dressed up and singing, "It Sucks To Be Me."

I had a dream about the puppets at the Drama Desk awards as presenters:
Katemonster gives out the award for Best actress in a MUSICAL at the DD'S.
Kate is dressed in a black tie evening gown
Oh thank you for having me to the Drama Desk Awards this year.
You know, I am very upset with this award show they have no category for BEST FEMALE LEADING MONSTER in a musical.
It really sucks to be me. Oh well.
Trekkie Monster appears: Oh don't worry Kate, maybe they will be more PC next year. Shoves big bag of money on the stage.
Kate annouces the winner for Best Actress and tries to steal the award from the actress.
