I know the "Avenue Q" puppeteers wear black, as evidenced by all the pictures of them during the show. But do they have to wear the same outfit each night, like another actor would wear the same costume for each performance?
I don't know what made me thik of this; my mind wanders all over the place sometimes...
I believe so. I believe the "costumes" are by Deisel -- black jeans and a black shirt. It's basic and casual enough as to keep the focus on the puppet.
Stephanie wears a black skirt and a v neck shirt and tights.
Also from Deisel. I think they have a deal with them.
Yes they do wear the same costumes each night although they've had to buy new versions of them a few times already.
Really? So, Stephanie never shakes it up and wears pants?
I want John's shirt that he wears. (not the one off his back though....) :-P
Really? I'd take the one off his back...
All the clothing seemed to be more gray. If that seems anal I apologize.

I'd say it's more of a charcoal... :P
"I want John's shirt that he wears. (not the one off his back though....)"
like Rose_MacShane said, i'd love to have the shirt off his back. Sigh,. . Johnny T rox!
They wear grey tops with black pants (except for Stephanie it's a skirt)
" you take the shirt. I'll take John."
LOL . .. .can we share?
They intentionally wear "off black" so that they don't appear stark black and draw attention to themselves. The softer color eases it a bit.
stragely enough, I had been wondering about this, too. Thanks guys!
This might seem odd, but what about Stephanie's understudy? Will she wear a skirt if she goes on?
No, Jen Barnhart and Aymee Garcia wear pants
So as new actor(es)s come into the show will they have there own "costume"?
Yes, each individual puppeteer has their own costume, understudies included (for example, Barrett doesn't wear John's grey shirt with the emblem on it when he understudies Princeton/Rod)
Amyee wears pants? How do you know this Broadwaystar?
I saw her go on for Stephanie
She wore pants
