I was shopping in Theatre Circle one night and noticed one of the musical scripts was for a musical called Avenue X and it was subtitled as "The A Capella Musical." Even though I love musicals with ochestral accompaniment, I like a capella music as well (I'm a pretty big fan of Rockapella.) So does anyone know about this?

Opened on February 21, 1994 at Playwrights Horizons. It ran for 48 performances.
Mark Brokaw directed. Ken Roberson choreographed.
Chuck Cooper was in the cast, although I didn't recognize other names.

Avenue X is a completely 100% a cappella musical. It premiered at Playwrights Horizons in 1995... and lucky for you (if you're interested), the show is being revived at the moment by Dreamlight Theatre Company. Check out the website for tickets. I think the entire run is sold out except for Sat 3/17 at 2pm. There is buzz that it will transfer to a larger theatre after this initial run... but who knows. The response has been crazy for this show... and the cast is phenomenal. I saw the show last week, and it truly is amazing!!! Check it out!!

I've been in the city this week and have been unable to get tickets for this show. But it seems like something I would love to see/ be a part of.
I've searched on MTI shows and googled "Avenue X" but I can't seem to find a full plot synopsis.
The reason I'm so interested is because my school is looking for suggestions for musicals to do next year and this seems like a swell fit for our department. If anyone knows anything about where I can find information about this show please let me know where.
Also if anyone has the NYC cast recording, how is it? I want to buy it, but I'm in college and I don't have much money and can only invest in real keepers.
