The Good-
Sutton Foster, although the song itself seemed a little dull, she's amazing.
Avenue Q- despite vocal strain, John Tart has got to be one of the world's cutest performers.
Eden Espinosa? In my opinion, just OK. I agree that she's pushing for those high notes and it doesn't sound pretty. Doesn't it seem like this would cause her to break character during an actual show?
Idina Menzel and JLT- again, Idina didn't sound her best. And shame on NBC4's broadcast- they showed only a snippet of For Good, so those who missed it live can barely hear JLT.
Hunter Foster- just because he looked so cute up there, and like he was having fun.
The Bad-
Drew Lachey!!! Who said it's OK to sing an entire song off-pitch?
Bombay Dreams- without the costuming, full choreography, and fountain, Shakalaka Baby was as limp as a wet sari.
Mamma Mia- Oh my GOD! What was THAT?? Acting 101- stop indicating. Singing 101- sing on key. Horrifying.
Wonderful Town- I've heard this show is great, so why does every TV performance make me want to run? BOB and the Tony's- both make me never want to see the show.
Dracula- terrifying lyrics. Made my blood run cold.
The Ugly-
CHRISTY CARLSON ROMANO- good lord, who gave her the green light to act/sing? It was like watching a junior high school musical.

Posted: 9/15/04 at 9:49amNo, Rath - Tovah Feldshuh presented and did a little spiel - but not a scene from the show.

"And we needed another thread on this topic why?"
And we need another random, pointless catty remark why?
B'way on B'way aired last night on TV, and I thought more might have seen it and might want to voice off.

Love4Cheno - there's nothing catty about it - its about edcuation of the public - from your avatar it says you've belonged to this site for Seven Days now. In that time, have you not figured out that all you have to do is search to find out if someone else has posted on the same topic or not? it saves tons of bandwidth and respects the others who post on this board. Just try, next time, and we'll all get along fine.
Now - back to Tovah! I've never heard her sing - is she as good in that aspect of performing as she is at acting?

Posted: 9/15/04 at 12:50pmUnless you saw the show, you cannot get the full effect without the costumes and the lighting. Nothing that was sung made me want to run and see those shows although I have seen most of them. The song SOS was horrible.

Posted: 9/15/04 at 12:51pmTovah is an incredible singer - great range, great sound, and of course can act the sh*t out of any song.

The Best performances:
Without a doubt in my mind, Sutton gave the best performance of the concert followed by Idina and JLA and then Eden and the cast of BKLYN
Sutton's "ASTONISHING": Astonishing. LOL. It was so wonderful, not a note out of place. That performance alone made me wanna go and get tickets for Little Women right then and there. It was rousing, pitch-perfect, and just right on the ball! Sutton blew me away and made me keep rewinding my tape to watch it over and over again. Not only did she sing it flawlessly, its a wonderful song to match! Just mind-blowing!!!
Idina and JLA's "FOR GOOD": Excellent. I have to see JLA. She was really great. My only complaint was that they cut out all of Glindas opening to the number and just cut to Elphaba. Idina made me get goosebumps, proving she's still got it!
Eden and the cast of BKLYN's "Once Upon A Time": Eden was great...she was a little slow on a few of the lines but she pulled off that last note with chilling ease. How can a human being go that friggin high!?!?! The backup singers (the rest of the cast) were great too. Eden was phenomenal though.
I thought the worst by far were Drew (RENT), Bombay Dreams and The Producers.
Manu and Aisha(sp)'s "SHAKALAKA BABY": It was a recording. Enough said.
Hunter and the girls' "I WANNA BE A PRODUCER": It started like 1/2 way into the song. And Hunter was not up to par, I thought. I LOOOOOOOVE The Producers but this performance was far from great.
Drew Lachey in the RENT number. Great song, awful performance by Drew. I felt like I was being tortured. Well, maybe because I WAS being toruted. It was like fingernails on a chalk board.
