I think the Zipper will be the perfect venue for this show.

I didn't think that it was serious until I saw the broadwayworld link.
I think it sounds crazy, but it handles some very important issues.

trust me--its not crazy at all. Not only have I felt strongly that rap/hip hop is a fantastic genre for the theatre with its emphasis on great lyrics (in the heights is helping to prove this), but the idea of gay characters claiming a genre that has often been homophobic is very powerful.

This piece is extraordinary from the music and lyrics to the performances and direction.

For those into the whole Facebook thing -- you can now become a "fan" of the show. It's a cool way to promote because your profile gets a little pic/link to the page, which has all of the show/ticket info.

I know they began at the Toronto Fringe and won Best Musical there, then they came to the NY Fringe and won Best Musical here.

I think their plan right now is to focus on the NY Off-Broadway run and see where that leads them.

I would love this NY run to last as long as possible, hopefully into awards season so they can still be around for recognition.

Agreed. I'd love for it to stick around so I could see it! I don't know exactly when I'll be able to get back to NYC.

Just a reminder that not only is there a show tonite, they are performing at Splash for Scott Nevins' show.

I'll be at both as it turns out! re: BASH'd: A GAY RAP OPERA Aiming For Summer Off-Broadway Run

I saw it at the Fringe last year. Very clever little show with a deep message.

I saw the show tonite and it's even better than at Fringe. Some really nice revisions/additions and the production looked great. And the Zipper is such a terrific place for this kind of show with its fun ambience.

Then I went over to Splash for a lil Musical Mondays and Scott Nevins who was presenting a performance by the BASH'd boys. I finally got to meet them and they are the greatest guys. Very sweet and in awe of the great things happening for their show. And that makes it all the better--seeing two very sincere, talented people getting much deserved success.

I am very passionate about this show because not only do I feel like its one of my all-time favorite pieces of theatre, it's a vibrant piece of activism for the LGBT community and all that we are fighting for from California to NYC.

This excellent piece of theatre fulfills both passions for me.

Here's to a great run!

How do I get $25 tickets? The cheapest option online is twice that. Is there a rush or something?
