When does what start up again? BC/EFA is a non-profit charity. They operate uh, every day.

no, lol, i know that BC/EFA is always "open" but when does the actual buying of autographed playbills and posters right after a show start again now that it is a new broadway season?

I believe they start the begging at the curtin call about 12 weeks before both the Gypsy of the year and the Easter Bonnet Competition.

I believe it is in the winter - March into April I think
It is twice. Once in October - December and once March - May

It's not begging; it's usually a call for donations and/or an auction.
Oh, sometimes they beg, and plead, and it can be REALLY funny.
I couldn't believe it when someone in the Boy From Oz audience bid $2000 on the shirt Hugh wore during the show.

Hey there,
It's actually 6 weeks prior to their fundraising events, The Easter Bonnet Competition as well as The Gypsy Of the Year in December.
But if you look on Ebay, they almost always have something up there that they are auctioning off!
i know last year when i saw ave q they were doing it then and that was arond 11/9 . i think they start early november into the holiday season
Considering that Gypsy of the Year is usually in the start of December then yes, they would have been doing it in November since I always thought (as Jamie said already) that they do six weeks before each competition.

That's it?
I saw it go up to around $5000 when I was there so they also auctioned off his towel.

That's insanity!! It's a good thing it's for such a great cause. Wish I had that kinda cash to blow.

If there is a great and fun auctioneer like Michael Mulheren in THE BOY FROM OZ, there is so much laughter during the sessions ( while quite a few part with their cash for Broadway's favourite charity ). I think the record for the t-shirt that Hugh wore was $ 7500 ( which John Travolta won)...but one of the most unbelievable was when one guy ( with a girl friend in tow) bid $ 1000 to kiss Hugh - LOL. And he got his kiss, too! I think they raised about $ 630,000 for the Gypsy Competition and about $ 400,000 for the Easter Bonnet competition, on the strength of auctioned tee-shirts and towels ( with certified DNA, as Michael M puts it
), photos onstage, plus two people's winning bids of over $ 20,000 each for walk-ons in the show...
In addition to signed show memorabilia, there are also photo opportunities offered for some shows. And of course the opportunity for walk-on parts in the shows.
I'm going to be seeing Beauty and the Beast October 27th at the Wednesday matinee...are you sure they start it in October...looking forward into getting a picture with one (or two!) of the cast members, hopefully Brooke Tansley!
