Is anyone going this year? When is it? How much does it cost? I'll be in NYC for school next year and I desperately want to go!

Posted: 5/9/04 at 5:47pmIt's usually the third weekend in September. This year it was the 22nd, I believe. Somewhere around there. It's free to go, and they have a wide range of prices for things to buy. There are the more expensive items that are auctioned off, but each show has a table where they sell old props and costumes, and things can be as cheap as a few dollars, up to around $100. Plus there are places to win free tickets, door prizes and stuff like that. It's always a good time, for a good cause.

Last year at the flea market the Cabaret table was saying that everything had to go as it was their last year.
They had some terrific items, too. One of my favorite purchases is a t-shirt with a sketch (drawn by cast member Leenya Rideout) of all of the final Kit Kat Girls, instruments and all, with the caption "even the orchestra is beautiful". And of course, many leopard print items.
It would be cool if they brought back the table this year, maybe with some of those fabulous lamps that I hear will be coming down once Assassins closes.

Posted: 5/9/04 at 7:17pmWell, Cabaret must still have a few things, since they didn't close until four months after the flea market. They must still have a few props and costumes lying around.

Oh, I'm thinkin' TheGirlInTheFrock. Great minds think alike, don't they? lol!
I hope GirlfriendfromCanada is right! I'd think they have *some* stuff left over, considering that the show went on for a few months after last year's flea market. I'm definitely going this year though, since I'll be living in the city.

I bought a pair of VERY worn-out ballet slippers all signed by cast members of Phantom of the Opera last year...I love them! They're hanging from my dresser.
Hopefully, there will be lots of good Aida stuff (it will be right after the show closes
) and maybe some leftover Sutton stuff?
It's so much fun...and it's approaching us quickly!

Posted: 5/9/04 at 11:14pmFun event. I went last year and got Jai Rodriguez's shirt that he wore in Rent :) I didn't realize it was his until about an hour after I bought it. I'm looking forawrd to seeing what they might have at the Wicked or Avenue Q table this year if I can go.

My favorite purchase at last years was my "It Sucks To Be Me" pin from the Avenue Q table

CJR,
You must have some hunk following you around snaping pictures of you at any given moment. You go girl!

Posted: 5/10/04 at 10:14amLook around....there are always tables that have items from various shows so you might find something at one of those. Go early to check out the items, buy what you really want or put your name in for the auctions. It tends to be crowded early on so I go back again later to get another look. There are grat items from old Playbills, posters to costumes, walk-ons to shows.

Hahaha Dame. Well I have a hunk, but he's not following me around, snapping pictures of me lol
Funny you should say that though, because last year at the Flea Market there WAS a guy following me around snapping pictures of me. He most definitely wasn't a hunk though -- he was actually quite creepy!

Posted: 5/10/04 at 12:10pmAh I love this event. I have to get there way earlier this year to go attack the Cabaret and Taboo tables (if they have them, that is). Fave purchase last year: a headshot of Raul Esparza. Kicking myself for not buying: The Rocky Horror Show poster.
re: BC/EFA FLEA MARKET#13
Posted: 5/10/04 at 12:13pmThis is my favorite event as well... I'm usually at the Chicago table first thing, but last year it was rather disappointing -- all Melanie crap *shudder*

I lost my pin during a huge snow storm...... that made me very sad. Luckily I have a very good friend who got me a new one during the BCEFA fund raising!

Posted: 5/10/04 at 8:23pmI went last year, it was a lot of fun. Rent has costume pieces every year, but if you're wanting some blue vinyl pants and such, get there early!! When we arrived about 20 min before it opened, there was already a big clump of people...the second they said "okay, we're open" everyone stormed the table and started grabbing things..very amusing.

Posted: 5/25/04 at 11:35pmWOOOOOOWOOOOO!!!! i am SOOOO excited. My friend from NYU and I went last year (on September 21st) which was the same day we had bought tickets for TBFO during previews (we bought them the day the tickets went onsale). It was AMAZING. we went before AND after the show...it was just SUCH a great experience. I mean, we ran into Stephanie J. Block on her way to the theatre and we were like "we're about to see you" and then Susan Egan like, just walked up to us and started talking--she was soo cute....there were so many fun people there!!!
