Hi,
Could someone tell me the 'timeframe' that accounts for the 'twice a year' fundraising efforts at Broadway shows for BC/EFA?
I attend a show atleast once a month and it seems that every one I go to - no matter the month of the year - at the end, the show says 'it's that time for donations for BC/EFA. Do the fundraising activities actually happen more than just 'twice a year' and instead year-round?
Each of the two periods is about 6 weeks long. The current fundraising effort began in mid-March and runs through the Easter Bonnet competition in late April. There is a fall collection period beginning in mid/late October that runs through the Gypsy of the Year competition in early December.
There are other BC/EFA events during the year (Broadway Backwards, Flea Market), but to my knowledge, only the Bonnet and Gypsy ones involve post-show collections as you described.
They are definitely not year round. They happen 6 weeks in the Winter and Spring to correspond with the Holiday Season and the release of Carols for a Cure/Gypsy of the Year Competition and the Easter Bonnet Competition. They do other events throughout the year, but not ones that Broadway casts collect for.

These are the twice-a-years. Just count about six weeks back and that's the start date.

I just wonder why the OP seems bothered by the fact that there always seems to be fundraising going on. Does it offend you?
I've seen nearly 40 Broadway shows now, and I've only been to two shows when they were collecting: the Spring Awakening revival in the first week of November 2015, and Matilda during the last week of October 2016. I've always wanted to be there during it; I don't know if I'd ever buy anything, but it sure is fun to watch and see what they've got!
