I didn't think they were at the time, but looking back on it, they definitely had the clearest sound of any skit or presenter. Not that that means anything, but it was enough for me to remember. An acquaintance who was also at the Monday show happened to bring this up in conversation with me yesterday, too.
About halfway through I sensed that they were lip-syncing — vocals and sound mix were just a little too polished for the amount of physical movement going on. Still a good performance.

Thanks Kathy, I guess that definitely confirms they were lipsyncing, haha. But great performance overall!

Oh, it was very much recorded. One or two of the kids faltered in their lipsync, but no one minded at all. In fact, it made it more adorable, and I wish they had used that to make a joke about their voices changing too,
my favorite numbers, hands down, were Hamilton's Sweeney Todd spoof, the Fun Home kids, and the National Tour men.

I believe I read somewhere that their child wrangler at the show wrote this for them. Pretty clever.

Yes, it was written by Vanessa Brown, the FUN HOME child guardian.
