Posted: 6/28/06 at 6:25pmHey everybody. I'm planning to be in NYC in a week or so, and was wondering how the lottos are for Spelling Bee and Drowsy Chaperone are right now. Easy to win? Still hard? Thanks in advance.

Posted: 6/28/06 at 6:58pmI went to the Drowsy lotto on the day of the Tonys. There were about 70 people there, maybe even more. And the guy told me that it was the smallest crowd that he's seen. I lost. It's not as difficult as the Wicked lottery...you can probably win Drowsy after going a few times.

Posted: 6/28/06 at 7:43pmWedding Singer has a $26.25 student rush, if you have a student ID. Get there a couple of hours before the box office opens though.

I'm thinking about doing student rush for wedding singer but if I don't get it, I really won't be able to see it because I'll be leaving NY that night.
It would be on a Sunday (3:00) and I just don't know whether to buy tickets or take a student rush chance...

Posted: 6/28/06 at 7:52pmTake the student rush chance. Dunno how it is after Tonys, but I got there 10:30 on a Sunday, and got front row center. It's actually a good idea if there's a few people in front of you because you might have a better chance of getting the dead center.

It's pure chance though. And then there is a chance you may not even get them.
Plus, it says the seats MAY be limited view.
Besides, I'm pretty sure we can't get there THAT early. But, if we can- what time does the box office open and how long were you in the line?

Posted: 6/28/06 at 8:43pmI won the spelling bee lotto the first time I tried, but that was on a Sunday night when Wicked didn't have a performance. I've heard that Drowsy has gotten more crowded since the tonys. But try them both, you don't have anything to lose.

The seats for Wedding Singer were limited view, but that's because you were so close to the stage, you had to look up, and couldn't see some of the actors' and actresses' feet if they were farther back on the stage.
I don't know how front row is at the Marquis or Circle in the Square.

I've never won when playing the Bee lottery - truly my worst luck on B'way.
And I'd have to say that AveQ's lotto is probably the worst, as it has the smallest number of seats (yet I won that once...)

Posted: 6/28/06 at 10:40pmThe stage for Circle in the Square is like a foot high. If you win lotto for spelling bee you sit on bleachers in the first and second rows. I didn't think they were bad at all. A little cramped but not anymore cramped then your usual theatre.
