John Simon on Bloomberg gives Behanding 4*, "Do Not Miss."

Even if, like me, you are no great fan of the Irish playwright Martin McDonagh, you will find “A Behanding in Spokane,” in which Christopher Walken makes a triumphant return to the Broadway stage, insane yet also fiendishly funny.

Sarah Crompton in the U'K's Telegraph also gives Behanding 4*:

She liked this lighter McDonagh effort:

In the past, I've found McDonagh's tendency to treat his characters as cogs in a machine upsetting: I felt he made them suffer too much for me to be able to laugh. But Spokane is in a lighter vein. It is not exactly compassionate, but it has a new lightness of touch. I found it irresistible.

After sifting through many of these reviews it seems most critics agree that Walken is excellent. Reviews on the play itself are split. Some critics hated or did not like it, while others liked it very much.

So there you have it.

This was my first McDonagh play. I thought it was hilarious, and would like to see more.

I appreciate a playwright who can work in the black comedy genre. It's very risky, and can fail so easily. In Behanding, McDonagh throws out so much stuff - especially racial in tenor - that I never thought I'd laugh at... Somehow he just managed to push those humor buttons.

So if you are thinking of going, go!
