Suffice to say, I got a comp ticket and I thought I paid too much.
I saw it the evening of Sept. 15 after Paxton Whitehead had already left the cast (lucky guy). I agree with just about everything already written except that “It’s nowhere near as bad Straight White Men” which was equally forgettable but I preferred by a smidge.
Lest this turn into any sort of female playwright-bashing, however, I just wish that two of the most sublime plays I’ve seen in years, both written AND directed by women, had played on Bway instead of the aforementioned mediocrities, Annie Baker’s “The Antipodes” and “Mary Jane” by Amy Herzog. Sigh...
