Who Is Your One Personal MUST WIN Tony Award This Year?

May 6, 2026 — 1:42:10 PM

I second Joe Mantello. It surprises me that his last Tony was more than 20 years ago. I want this for him this year as let's be real, a lot of us were skeptical, and his Salesman wound up being really special.I feel strongly about Alden Ehrenreich too. I haven't seen him in much of anything really and generally knew he was young Han in another origin story misfire, but his NY stage debut is electric to me in a way I haven't felt in quite a bit.

THE LOST BOYS Reviews

I swear I'm not Holdren at Vulture, but she just gets it :)"Two years ago, I had a minor freakout watching Bourzgui’s Broadway debut in the Tommy revival. Now he’s wearing a Billy Idol mullet and soaring through the air, and I couldn’t be more thrilled about it. He’s absurdly charismatic, mostly by virtue of being so entirely himself. He doesn’t sound like any other young musical star, speaking or singing — there’s gravitas and mischief there, Oberon and Puck rolled into one. Though the Lost ...

I am ready to personally launch and oversee Alden Ehrenreich's Tony campaign and he doesn't score an OCC nom, wild.

Full Monty revival casting wishes

Falsettolands said: "I imagine with the Yazbeck connection, Andrew Durand would be a top choice."I'm going to confirm Durand as Malcolm in my mind right now. I've seen Cheyenne Jackson solo enough times to know that "Breeze Off the River" is a mainstay of his cabaret act and that this is one of his favorite shows, but what part is he right for now at this age? There was a reading in 2019 helmed by Silverman which included Stark Sands, Debra Monk, and Adam Chanler-Berat, who curiously enough i...

CHESS 2025 Broadway Cast Recording Thread

Apr 10, 2026 — 6:54:07 PM

Agree 100% with malcs98. I saw Chess in previews and was impressed by Tveit but knew in time adjustments would be made and he'd finesse this score to his strengths, and that was definitely the case when I made a return visit in February. Honestly, I was damn impressed—I've been hard on Tveit in the past—and wish that voice on that night was what I was hearing on this new recording. And I am shocked people are willingly listening to "He is a Man, He is a Child." I blocked that on Spotify as soo...

THE LOST BOYS Previews

Apr 4, 2026 — 1:10:58 PM

Several minutes into Thursday night's performance I asked myself how one of my fever dreams wound up on stage. I had a great time and that is coming from someone who grew up with The Lost Boys on TV quite often (my mom had a thing for Jason Patric). It's a lot of show right now though, and it's already been clearly articulated in previous posts what needs to be cut, trimmed, and further refined to keep the story moving. I don't believe it's a herculean task either, and hope the team behind th...

Kad said: "I wish that there was a bit of a romantic triangle between Michael, David, and Star, but that kind of dynamic between Michael and David just isn’t present here. Michael and David barely have any kind of relationship at all."WTF. I am seeing this tonight and now tempering all expectations outside of Ali's platinum blond wig after reading this.

Timothy Chalamet Criticism

Mar 16, 2026 — 10:06:10 AM

I won't reveal much but I do work in one of the artforms no one cares about anymore. I also first saw Chalamet in Prodigal Son off Broadway and believe he is a generational talent who said something with a twinge of truth albeit glibly. Pull the 990s of many of these major companies and you'll see the financial realities they are dealing with year in, year out. I have not seen the current internet outrage translate into an uptick in ticket sales or philanthropic support either, so if one real...

Derek Klena Joins Savannah Bananas

The Savannah Bananas sell out major league stadiums. It has become a huge event for families and is the perfect fit for Klena. Very savvy.

London Loved It/New York Hated It

Coram Boy. Debuted at the National Theatre, even had a return engagement, and then transfered to NY and closed at the Imperial after a month.

SWEET SMELL OF SUCCESS with Raul Esparza @ Lincoln Center

Nov 25, 2025 — 10:40:40 AM

Reading through this thread and I'm disappointed that I didn't go. I had advance casting intel but even with that had to weigh purchasing a not very discounted ticket or using that $$ towards an espresso machine and the espresso machine won out and is being delivered today. I'll be well caffeinated for Ali's next gig now at least.

“Martin Scorsese no longer watches films in cinemas due to audience bad behaviour” - has your theatregoing been affected in the same way?

Sep 8, 2025 — 12:53:07 PM

TotallyEffed said: "I'll never stop going to the theatre but the prices are more alarming than the behavior, and the behavior is pretty alarming. I try to see shows early because I find the audience is better behaved. But with the prices of everything skyrocketing, I have to be a lot more selective about what I see. As exciting as Evita sounds, how much will it cost to get a decent seat in the theatre when it comes to Broadway? $600? And then have the strong possibility of someone talking or ...
