Just finished reading this very good book by former BILLY ELLIOT star Alex Ko. Alex is from Iowa and lost his dad to cancer when he was only 11 years old. Two years later he was performing the title role in BILLY ELLIOT on Broadway. This book chronicles his early years, his competitive driven gymnastics coach who almost destroyed his chances of becoming a dancer, his father's illness and eventual death, his long audition process for Billy (and some misunderstandings along the way), his eventual Broadway debut, only to suffer a devastating injury early in the run that nearly ended his dancing career.
The book was very well written and very interesting. Anyone else read this?

Well, thanks to your synopsis, I don't need to!
I just feel a person needs to wait until they are at least 20 before writing an autobiography.

I read it and it was outstanding! Very well written for someone his age!

Not a depressing book at all. Very uplifting as Alex continues to persevere and keep a positive attitude despite the obstacles.
Well written for someone his age is hardly a ringing endorsement. However, I'm sure he didn't write it himself. "Stars" seldom do.
(Which doesn't mean it isn't an interesting story.)
