BOMBSHELL moving forward after THE WIZ

I hope they get a good librettist- the concert showed how strong the score is but how much its dramatic arc, musically speaking, depends on Marilyn A and Marilyn alternating and coming together.

The use of a good librettist with a clever conceit will make that concept succeed or fail, but I can't be sure it's BOMBSHELL without the dual portrayal.

Might this finally be the Marilyn Monroe musical that finally works?

Do they have a good scarf-wearing dramaturg?

What do you mean?"

It's a joke about Debra Messing's Smash character.

"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)

That is great news, I think it could actually work. Wonder if they would offer Megan Hilty the role of Marilyn.

Well, she's expressed interest several times after the concert, and Craig Zadan retweeted the articles in which she did express interest in it.

It would be perfect if she were cast--it's a match made in heaven. She looks the part, and she sings the songs gloriously. I don't think they could find a match this perfect if they went looking for another actress.

In my opinion, they shouldn't do Bombshell if they can't get her, and I've read several similar opinions. Bombshell's fanbase came from Smash, and most of Smash's fan base was "Team Ivy".

Also, I'm still not sold on the dual role idea. I my opinion, Bombshell can and should be a showstopping tour de force role in the vein of Funny Girl.

Finally we'll get a chance to hear Julia's Pulitzer-worthy book!

"Some people can thrive and bloom living life in a living room, that's perfect for some people of one hundred and five. But I at least gotta try, when I think of all the sights that I gotta see, all the places I gotta play, all the things that I gotta be at"

I agree it should not be dual role. If role is demanding then have somebody do the matinee's for her.

I like Katharine McPhee, her new album/CD is pretty good and enjoy her on "Scorpion". That being said, Hilty is perfect for the role and SMASH did the right thing having her be "Marilyn" in the end.

Keep the dual role, but make it a pre-op teen transsexual performance artiste from Alaska channelling Marilyn to overcome all.

Why don't you go? Why don't you leave Manderley? He doesn't need you... he's got his memories. He doesn't love you, he wants to be alone again with her. You've nothing to stay for. You've nothing to live for really, have you?
