Playbill, Broadway.com, and Broadway World are all reporting it:
Is The Book of Mormon Aiming to Convert London Audiences? (Playbill.com)

Don't really know,
but the article has an alarmingly scary error:
"Parker co-directed the musical with Casey Nicholaw (The Drowsy Chaperone, Spamalot); the production picked up 14 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Best Direction, Best Original Score, Best Book and Best Choreography."
We all know it picked up 14 NOMINATIONS not awards. That's a pretty glaring error and a pretty big difference.

With the 14 nominations, I'm curious to see how Mormon and Anything Goes hash it out in the acting and design categories.

Trust me, everyone in the UK knows what South Park is.
And Avenue Q has been wildly successful here.

Posted: 5/21/11 at 7:33pmI think if they can market it in the same way they did with Avenue Q and in a small theatre like The Noel Coward, Gielgud or Novello, I think it could be a success.

The theatre can't be too small. The staging is quite extensive.

Posted: 5/22/11 at 11:01amI haven't seen The Book of Mormon, but as a guide - the revival of Hair went in the Gielgud - those who saw Hair and Mormon...are we talking bigger or smaller for Mormon? Or about right?

Posted: 5/22/11 at 11:27amHair had a unit set that could easily be scaled down. Book of Mormon is a bigger show. Not Drury Lane HUGE, but it's not what I'd call a "small" show. It's probably a better show for the Shaftesbury than Rock of Ages.

Sonia Friedman is the producer for London.

I'd love to see Josh Gad recreate the role in London, like Nathan Lane did with The Producers. Benjamin Walker was Price in the early workshops, so I think he'd be a good choice for the role.

I saw Book of Mormon on Broadway last week and can definitely see it having a decent run here in London.

greeny11, ATG also own:
The Apollo Victoria
The Comedy
The Duke of Yorks
The Fortune
The Lyceum
and The Playhouse
What makes you think it would be one of those three?
The Phoenix houses Blood Brothers, which is not going anywhere.
The Piccadilly is housing GHOST from next month, which won't be gone for a while.
The Savoy has Legally Blonde, which also doesn't seem to be going anywhere. It is also too small.
From what I hear, The Lyceum would be perfect for Book of Mormon - but of course The Lion King is also not moving.

Posted: 5/22/11 at 5:39pmI know they own all those - but the Lyceum is not likely to become free anytime soon (plus with an auditorium seating 2,100 people, is too big) - the others are far too small for the show. The Apollo is the next biggest after the Lyceum and the ones I listed. Personally, I think the Savoy will become free next year, with the Book of Mormon moving in.

Posted: 5/22/11 at 5:51pmThe Savoy too small for Mormon? Are you kidding? It would be a great venue for it. I honestly think with the timeframe Legaly Blonde could well end up closing by then to make way for Mormon. The Gielgud would also be perfect but not an ATG venue.

ATG don't own the Apollo, they own The Apollo Victoria which houses Wicked so it's too big for Mormon and won't be available anyway,
I think the Savoy would be a good home for Mormon. ATG are trying to make a musical house after the Piccadilly.
