Good, then stay in the West End. Enjoy your poorly sung musicals.
Broadway is a road in New York
That is a common misconception for many who have never actually been to Broadway. Broadway is indeed a name of a winding north-south road in Manhattan, but its name is also a metaphor for a group of 39 theatres, each with a capacity of 500+, that all generally lie in the same vicinity of Times Square. Only a small number of those theatres actually have a Broadway Ave. address. Just like the West End, "Broadway" really is "a whole section of [New York] with theatres just dotted around." Please get your facts straight before you let those fingers do a-tapping.
As for which theatre district makes more money, I don't have the statistics. But it has been quoted that Broadway productions require a lot more financing than West End ones. I think that has to do more with real estate, however.
One major difference I'm noticing now is that the West End is more fostering of straight, non-musical plays, while Broadway is slowly turning into a musical-only destination.
I think both districts produce high quality (as well as crappy) commercial theatre, so this argument is rediculous. It's impossible to say which one is "better."
Exactly how many Aleve do I have to take before it kills me?
Really...I need to know.
