How was I too kind? I said it was the worst show I have ever seen in my entire life - is there something I can add that's more cruel?

You're review was terrific, Munk. It highlighted BROOKLYN's biggest flaw-the show. I was just kidding around.

I too saw this show. I actually really enjoyed it. I thought the cast, direction and some songs were really great. I think its too simple of a storyline for most people. I do think the cast deserves a better show though. I think it will at least run until the summer...hopefully. All in all, I enjoyed it :)

Sorry Munk, Don't mean to be rude,...but I just think to call everything basically garbage is Ok for your opinion but there's human beings behind that play and they just had a vision that didn't work for you and so be it. Not everything worked for me, but, I respect what is going on and what they wanted to express.

A smaller cast, a play filled with different types of music gospel to jazz to pop etc..a message to think about.... I think some of the songs were just wonderful.

The problem I see is that some have an image of what Broadway has to be and must be and in many ways, Brooklyn made an attempt to break that mold. To some they succeeded and to some they didnot,
but that's just the way life is. Left and right, red and blue, love Brooklyn and those who don't. I've seen plenty of plays that I thought weren't up to par, but gee, I was able to find some good in all of them...

I'm sure everyone who hated it will rip me up now, and so be it.
but like the the song says "There's a heart behind these hands"...there's also people behind the play who busted their ass to make it all happen...OK it doesn't work for some...but do we really need to go overboard with the criticism?

Gee I guess I'm just too sensitive today...maybe tomorrow I'll be tougher. Have a good day Munk.

(um, warning-may include spoiler)
Hey Munk--
The character who plays Streetsinger is a 'nam vet who fell in love with a real Faith. ("there's a little truth in every fairytale..."). It's kind of a twist that the street performers’ story is inspired by his past and his reflection on what might have happened…
I didn’t hate BKLYN. Perhaps it’s the show’s low budget appearance that makes it look like it would be more at home at some obscure off-Broadway location. I really enjoyed the creative production design and the way the actors interacted with the set. Yes, too many stereotypes. Yes, confusing book. Several clever lines. A couple of good songs. Composer Mark Schoenfeld has his own interesting story: HE was a homeless street performer for a while…

That part of the story just makes absolutely no sense. The show makes no sense - it's just awful.

Mobstar: There is no message in BROOKLYN to think about. BROOKLYN is full of so many chiche'd overdone "messages" that they don't even know what "message" the show contains - and neither do I. Messages of "acceptance," "anti-war," and "children and guns" were randomly brought up in Paradice's "monologue" and harshly shoved down our throats. What she was saying had nothing to do with ANYTHING in the show. And yes, I know people created the show and they have feelings. But the audience is also people and they have bank accounts....I would urge anyone to skip this show and save themselves the the frustration.

Good Vibrations is the worst show on Broadway. It was painful and trying to sit through.

I went to see the show after hearing everyone hate it...so I was prepared to do. What I saw changed my life and inspired me beyond belief. I love bklyn and thank the team of bklyn (performers, writers, set, etc...) for giving me that wonderful memory.

love4cheno, "Good Vibrations is the worst show on Broadway. It was painful and trying to sit through."
Because?????? At least Munk gave specifics about what he didn't like about Brooklyn, and I'm sure will be detailed in his review about Good Vibrations, and other shows, he sees. You don't have to agree with him and I'm sure his tastes are not like everyones', but he at least gave reasons.
It seems what people are saying is so irritating is if you're going to critic something, 1st actually see it and second be specific.
Otherwise I didn't care for it is enough to say, "It was awful and painful to sit through" says nothing, it is just being over dramatic. I also agree with Mobstars comment about people's preconcived ideas of what Broadway should be, yet that's fine too. It's fine to want something to be the way you think it should be, and therefore be disappointed when it isn't. Mad and nasty, might be over doing it though ( not directed at anyone specifically)

You guys crack me up. But yeah, I basically agree with what most of you are saying. Amazing performers with bad material.

The plot confused me SO much. I saw it with a friend and on our way home from the show we were still trying to figure out what happened. lol.

Munk I've beent hink....you LOVE the set but hate everything else. Then there are loud people out there who HATE the set and LOVE the songs but HATE the story. Then there are the people who scream about how much they HATE the story LOVE the songs and LOVE THE ACTORS.....as you can see this goes on and on. I happen to be one of those people who love EVERY part of bklyn.
