I really wish the show would close to. The cast, and when I say cast I mean Ramona Keller, needs to move on to bigger and better things. And SPELLING BEE needs to open there.
Namo - I LOVE your icon, it's brilliant. I'm considering going to see that, is it worth it?

The opposite of creation isn't war, it's stagnation.

"i think this show belongs to off broadway...not to broadway."
Off-Broadway deserves (and 99% of the time is) something far better than Brooklyn. Most of the best plays and many of the best musicals come out of Off-Broadway theatre (including the vast majority of the Pulitzer-prize winners of the last two decades).

A cast with five people does not have to suck.
Example: "Ain't Misbehavin'" - winner Best Musical.

I can't speak on behalf of the material they are give in "brooklyn," but I do know that individually they are ALL amazing, and ALL deserve to be "the best part of the show"...if it is so poorly written, as many say, disregard material, and you must base it ONLY on talent.

Posted: 2/16/05 at 10:16amThe review sounds like it was written by a high school freshman in a bad mood. Gimme a break. If you go into a show wanting to hate it you will.
re: BROOKLYN review by Munk#37
Posted: 2/16/05 at 10:44amreally? i thought it was well-written... are you angry because it's a negative review?

On the contrary, I thought that was a good review. Munk stated what he liked (set), why he liked it (realistic), what he disliked (everything else), why he disliked it (horrible), and what to do to fix it (throw it all out).
Oh, munk, hope your ears have healed

Posted: 2/16/05 at 10:46amI feel the same about that "love to hate me, but it's still love" line. It's ridiculous. Some people love to molest children. Some people love to torture and kill animals. What point is being made with that line? She's trying to allude that a figure of speech and an emotion are one in the same because they share a common word.

Posted: 2/16/05 at 10:59amWell this musical is certainly a love it or hate it kind of show. The audiences I've seen responded with great enthusiasm, and I loved seeing it myself despite a few lines that leave me scratching my head. Regarding the performances though, I'm most surprised by your great dislike of Cleavant Derricks, as I considered his performance one of the great highlights!
re: BROOKLYN review by Munk#41
Posted: 2/16/05 at 11:04amWhen I saw Cleavant he was very hoarse. Not very enjoable. Maybe I would have liked him better if he wasn't, but I was left unimpressed by him also.

He was VERY hoarse, and when he sang he had trouble hitting the notes, and it just sounded awful.
And the one thing that really did not make sense to me, hopefully someone can answer this for me - but I wouldn't be surprised if there is no logical explanation...at the end when Taylor or STreetsinger or WHATEVER his name is, why does he hold Brooklyn's father's guitar and say "faith, I'll always love you." Did he magically know Faith...in France? I was so confused.

Mobstar, what are you talking about? Am I not allowed to give a review on the show? I bet if I had bad taste and loved it, you'd be fine with that.
mef - I didn't think that was a kind review! Did you see BKLYN? Do you agree or not? It seriously is the worst show I have ever seen.
re: BROOKLYN review by Munk#47
Posted: 2/16/05 at 4:26pmYes, I've seen BROOKLYN. That's why I thought your review was kind.
