I remember her well from when she came to town from Toronto with that fine Hal David revival of Show Boat. She was an exciting Magnolia and was nominated for the Tony, but I think they had to give it to an aging diva for political reasons.
I was disappointed that she just kept getting the ingenue role in revivals. I think there was another side to her that showed when she played in the Encores' production of "The Boys From Syracuse." Besides singing one of the very best versions of "Falling in Love with Love," she led a triplet singing a sassy "Sing For Your Supper."
