So, is there anything you should not do backstage? Outside of the obvious don't jump on the stars and/or props/scenery. I was just wondering becuase I don't want to make an utter fool out of myself...but I probably will anyways.
Don't faint or spill anything hot on the star.

Try not to get in the way of any moving scenery or people ::hides in shame::
Do NOT, and I repeat, DO NOT peek out into the audience through the curtain to see if your friends showed up - or how many people are in the audience. That is the MOST unproffesional thing you can do.

Don't cry or gush over the stars.
Actually, some stars prefer to be cried and gushed over.
Ahh... Don't try and hug them for a long time..

I mean in a stalkerish way. When you meet the star, it's nice to say that you think they're amazing and you love they're work. You should go, "Oh my god! I love you! Marry me! Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!"
Yes, when they start to push away and say, "Get off me, freak" it's probably been long enough. In my experience, anyway.
I almost cried when I met Kathy Voytko and Kate Manning..But when I met them I was shaking really bad for some reason.

When I met Sutton Foster I froze for a second. Then I got over myself and had to concentrate on trying not to go insane.
Very early in my career I met Glenda Jackson and I swear it was like that scene in the movie The Jerk when Steve Martin is trying to read Bernadette's note that's gotten all wet - "Uhhh buuuhhh duuuuhhh iiiiii"... She was quite gracious, though.
Still, don't do that.
Also, when I went to the Snoopy rehearsal I was shaking really hard and I had this huge smile on my face. When Sutton actually came near me I spazzed. I also pretty much froze.

It's going to be hard not to scream "OMG I LOVE YOU MARRY ME!!!"
To John Tartaglia. But I'll try my darndest.
Now I understand your plight. How do you get to go backstage?
I doubt he'd have a problem with that...My friend told him he's amazingly hot and he said it's his favorite comment to get from a woman at the stagedoor.

It's a Christmas present from my Aunt who is friends with Rick Lyon. I started crying when I opened the tickets! I can't wait.
I was just wondering if there was some unspoken rule for going backstage or something lol
" How do you get to go backstage? "

lol that's my back up plan if Rick Lyon gets amnesia and doesn't remember my aunt.

When I met Hugh Jackman, there was a huge crowd, people yelling, etc.... well, my mom and I were right up against the barracade and she told him it was my birthday. He stuck his hand out and said "How old are you, man?"... I was frozen, he was talking to me!!! I finally shook his hand, we had our little conversation and it was awesome!

You're invited by a cast, crew member, or theatre staff. It's prearranged, so the staff of the theater has your name on a list at the stage door. Don't expect to be spontaneously invited in.
Once backstage, keep your hands in your pockets. You're not permitted to touch anything, from the curtains and props to the costumes. Keep your camera in your pocket. No photos allowed. Stay out of the way of the crew. Don't wander off the tour to explore the stage on your own.
Typically (union rules?) an ASM will accompany the tour, just to keep an eye on things.
Worst time for a tour: After a matinee when there's also an evening show (Cast wants to eat, sleep and prep for next show), or last night of a road show or double-show weekend.

Just remember that you are a guest. When someone seems in a hurry to get somewhere, you get out of their way.
Just don't try to hump anything/one and you'll be fine.
what show are you going backstage for? i didn't see if you posted the name.

Sometimes the cast won't sleep. I know I can never sleep between shows... my voice sounds horrible all over again.
It's morning voice syndrome.
