re: Bad Gigolos! The Broadway Edition

Ryan was frightened by Sami Gayle, but I freakin' love her! She is *supposed* to be like a distorted circus freak, and boy does she play it up!

The audience ate her up.

Great review, Norn! Can't wait to re-visit this show now that it's on Broadway.

Bump! Great show last night - Miss Patti is just getting better and better.

The look that Emma gave Sami during "Let Me Entertain You" broke my heart. It was a look of jealousy and loathing and it really added to Louise's overall character.

99% of the posters on this board have no clue what this thread title means (including me).

I had no idea it was about GYPSY until someone directed me to it.

Perhaps you could mention GYPSY in the thread title.

re: Bad Gigolos! The Broadway Edition

i wanted to bump this thread to combat the notion that this production is being "thoroughly trashed", & to second foster's suggestion that the thread title be changed so that it isnt so cryptic.

I changed it days ago!

Or, "The PATTI LUPONE GYPSY Love Thread"

I have no clue what "Bad Gigolos" even means, and it just confuses most people, not to mention that having the word "bad" in there isn't exactly encouraging.

"Gigolo" is the monkey that eats the piece from the cake. But yeah, I guess it would be a little weird for someone who is unfamiliar with the show.

re: Bad Gigolos! The Broadway Edition

i'm sorry, ahmelie !
i know that you are a wonderful person & devoted fan!

but i was talking to a friend today who has seen GYPSY countless times, many different productions...& it was even too obscure for her.

i had to act out the scene for her to understand where the phrase originates.

& if we are promoting GYPSY (certainly my intention!), we need to make it as accessible as possible!

YAY GYPSY!

I'm going to try to see it again this coming Saturday!

re: Bad Gigolos! The Official Broadway Gypsy Love Thread!

I'll be there Saturday as well! Interesting to see what more they change....they already cut the Entr'acte (well, they cut most of it), so I wonder what else they'll do.

Love the new thread title, btw.

I saw it 3.12.08. Can't wait to see what they've changed since then once opening night rolls around.
